What are we seeking?

We are seeking a skilled Software Development Engineer in Test (SDET) to join our Software Development team, who will contribute to a project with one of our global customers, which is one of the leading wealth management groups.

This role combines strong software development expertise with a passion for quality engineering. You will work closely with Java and JavaScript/TypeScript software developers to enhance functional, performance, security unit and integration test coverage, leverage, build and enhance robust testing frameworks, and ensure the highest level of product quality. Direct reporting to the Software Development Lead.

Location: Hybrid. Madrid city center (Sol area). 3 days a week in the office.

Job Responsibilities / Role:

Validate and enhance backend functional, performance, security, integration, and UI component tests in Java, Python, and JavaScript/TypeScript

Design, develop, and maintain testing frameworks and tools for backend and frontend applications

Closely collaborate with developers to improve testability and code quality across the stack

Implement and maintain continuous testing strategies within CI/CD pipelines

Investigate and debug complex issues, providing detailed analysis and solutions

Contribute to quality best practices, including code reviews and quality strategy discussions

Technical Skills required:

Bachelor’s degree or higher in Computer Science or Math or similar domain

4 years in SDET domain with the focus on REST API and Web UI testing

Strong programming skills in Java, Python and JavaScript/TypeScript

Good understanding of REST APIs, Microservices and Web UI testing, software development principles, object-oriented programming, and design patterns

Experience with testing frameworks (e.g., JUnit, TestNG, Cypress, Playwright, PyTest)

Familiarity with CI/CD tools – preferably Gitlab

Nice-to-haves:

Knowledge of cloud platforms (Azure) and familiarity with containerization (Docker, Kubernetes) Ability to work independently and in a team

Excellent problem-solving and debugging skills

Good communication and collaboration with Software Developers, DevOps engineers and Business Analysts

Good level of technical English – primarily reading/writing

Ability to work under pressure

Maintains strong attention to detail in high-pressure situations
