Software Developer II

We are seeking a skilled and motivated Software Developer II to join our development team within the banking and financial services sector.

The successful candidate will be responsible for designing, developing, testing, implementing, and maintaining high-quality software applications that support banking operations and business objectives.

The role requires strong programming skills, sound knowledge of software engineering principles, and practical experience working within banking or financial services environments. The candidate will collaborate with business analysts, solution architects, testers, and other stakeholders to deliver secure, reliable, scalable, and efficient software solutions.

Candidates must have relevant banking industry experience and an understanding of banking applications, financial services processes, data security, and regulatory requirements.

Key Responsibilities

• Design, develop, test, implement, and maintain software applications in line with business and technical requirements.
• Analyse business and technical requirements and translate them into effective software solutions.
• Develop clean, efficient, reusable, and maintainable code using appropriate programming languages and development frameworks.
• Support the development and enhancement of banking applications and financial services systems.
• Participate in the full Software Development Life Cycle (SDLC), including requirements analysis, design, development, testing, deployment, and maintenance.
• Develop and maintain APIs, application components, and system integrations.
• Collaborate with business analysts, solution architects, testers, and banking stakeholders to deliver business-aligned solutions.
• Troubleshoot, debug, and resolve application defects and production issues.
• Participate in code reviews and follow established coding standards and software development best practices.
• Develop and execute unit tests and support system, integration, regression, and user acceptance testing.
• Ensure software solutions meet banking security, data protection, performance, and quality requirements.
• Follow applicable organisational policies, technology standards, governance requirements, and relevant regulatory guidelines.
• Maintain technical documentation, design specifications, and implementation records.
• Support application releases, deployments, and post-implementation activities.
• Identify opportunities to improve application performance, reliability, security, and operational efficiency.
• Participate in Agile ceremonies and contribute to continuous improvement initiatives.

Required Qualifications

• A degree, diploma, or equivalent qualification in Computer Science, Information Technology, Software Engineering, or a related field is advantageous.

Required Experience

• Approximately 3–5 years of professional software development experience.
• Mandatory experience in the banking or financial services industry.
• Experience developing, enhancing, and maintaining business applications.
• Experience working with databases and writing SQL queries .
• Experience with version control tools such as Git.
• Understanding of software testing, debugging, and defect resolution.
• Experience working in Agile or Scrum development environments.
• Exposure to APIs, system integrations, and enterprise application development.
• Understanding of banking systems, financial transactions, or banking business processes.

Technical Skills

• Proficiency in at least one relevant programming language, such as Java, C#, Python, or JavaScript, depending on project requirements.
• Strong understanding of object-oriented programming and software design principles.
• Knowledge of relational databases, SQL , and data management.
• Experience with REST APIs and application integration.
• Familiarity with Git and collaborative development practices.
• Understanding of unit testing, integration testing, and code quality standards.
• Exposure to CI/CD pipelines and deployment processes.
• Knowledge of application security, data protection, and secure coding practices.
• Understanding of banking technology environments and financial services applications.

Preferred Certifications

• Relevant certification in Java, .NET/C#, Python, or the applicable programming language.
• Microsoft Azure or AWS cloud certification is an advantage.
• Relevant software development, database, or API integration certifications are beneficial.
• Banking or financial services technology certifications are an added advantage.
