Software Developer (.NET, Java, SQL & API Integration)

Jade Tours / Air Booking Center is an established travel company with 50 years of experience and operations in multiple countries.

We are seeking a motivated and resourceful Software Developer with experience in .NET, Java, SQL Server, API integration, and AI-assisted development to join our technology team at our Richmond Hill head office.

Working alongside our senior developer, you will contribute to new application development, enhance existing systems, integrate third-party services, and improve software development efficiency using modern AI-assisted coding tools, particularly Claude Code.

Travel industry experience is not required. Candidates with relevant software development experience in other industries are welcome.

Key Responsibilities

• Develop, maintain, and enhance web applications, backend services, and internal business systems.
• Build and maintain applications using C#, .NET, ASP.NET Core, Java, and Microsoft SQL Server.
• Design, develop, integrate, and maintain RESTful APIs for internal and external systems.
• Use AI-assisted development tools, particularly Claude Code, to support coding, debugging, refactoring, and testing.
• Work with the senior developer on application architecture, technical design, and development standards.
• Develop SQL queries, stored procedures, views, and other database components.
• Optimize database performance and troubleshoot application issues.
• Integrate third-party APIs, payment services, booking platforms, and other business systems.
• Develop automated processes to reduce manual work and improve operational efficiency.
• Maintain and improve existing applications, including legacy systems.
• Assist in development of AI-enabled applications and workflow automation solutions.
• Participate in code reviews, testing, deployment, documentation, and technical support.
• Collaborate with the senior developer and internal teams to understand requirements and deliver effective solutions.

Required Technical Skills

1. Backend Development

• Strong working knowledge of C# and .NET, including ASP.NET Core.
• Practical experience with Java development.
• Understanding of object-oriented programming (OOP), software design principles, and application architecture.
• Experience developing and maintaining web applications and backend services.

2. Database Development

• Strong experience with Microsoft SQL Server.
• Proficiency in T-SQL, stored procedures, views, functions, and complex queries.
• Understanding of relational database design, indexing, and query optimization.
• Ability to troubleshoot database-related application issues.

3. API Development and Integration

• Hands-on experience developing and consuming RESTful APIs.
• Familiarity with JSON, XML, HTTP/HTTPS, and web services.
• Understanding of API authentication, such as OAuth 2.0, JWT, and API keys.
• Familiarity with Swagger/OpenAPI and Postman.
• Experience handling API errors, logging, data validation, and integration troubleshooting.

4. AI-Assisted Software Development

• Experience using AI-assisted coding tools such as Claude Code, GitHub Copilot, ChatGPT, or similar platforms.
• Ability to use AI tools for code generation, debugging, refactoring, and unit testing.
• Ability to review, understand, test, and validate AI-generated code.
• Interest in AI agents, automated development workflows, and software automation.

5. Development Tools and Practices

• Familiarity with Git and source control.
• Experience with Visual Studio, Visual Studio Code, or IntelliJ IDEA.
• Familiarity with application debugging, testing, and deployment.
• Understanding of secure coding practices.

The following skills are assets but are not mandatory:

Frontend Development

• JavaScript, TypeScript, HTML5, and CSS3.
• React, Angular, Vue.js, or Blazor.

AI and Automation

• Claude API, OpenAI API, or other large language model integrations.
• AI agents, Model Context Protocol (MCP), and AI workflow automation.
• Python or PowerShell scripting.

Cloud and DevOps

• Microsoft Azure or AWS.
• Windows Server and IIS.
• Docker, CI/CD pipelines, GitHub Actions, or Azure DevOps.
• Application monitoring and logging.

Business Applications and Reporting

• Crystal Reports, SSRS, Tableau, or Power BI.
• Excel, CSV, and XML data processing and automated reporting.
• Microsoft Graph API and Microsoft 365 integrations.
• Financial application integration, invoicing, and payment processing.

Qualifications

• Degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, Information Technology, or equivalent practical experience.
• Approximately 3–5 years of professional software development experience preferred.
• Practical experience with .NET, Java, SQL Server, and RESTful API development.
• Experience using AI-assisted coding tools, with Claude Code experience considered a strong asset.
• Good analytical, debugging, and problem-solving skills.
• Ability to work independently on assigned tasks while collaborating effectively with a senior developer.
• Good communication skills and a willingness to learn new technologies.
• Availability of working on-site five days per week.

Pay: $70,000.00-$90,000.00 per year
