Software developer with AI-based tools experience

Skills, knowledge, experience required:

• Working knowledge of English: B2 or higher;
• Level 2 – Senior: either (i) a level of education which corresponds to completed university studies of at least 4 years attested by a diploma and relevant professional experience of at least 6 years gained after the award of the diploma OR (ii) a level of education which corresponds to completed university studies of at least 3 years attested by a diploma and relevant professional experience of at least 7 years gained after the award of the diploma;
• A minimum of 2 years of experience in ICT development of AI based software solutions;
• Participation in a minimum of 1 project integrating AI models;
• Participation in a minimum of 1 project involving the integration of AI models in modular components and/or building pipelines combining multiple AI based modules”;
• A minimum of 2 years of experience with: writing clean, efficient, and scalable code using Python as programming languages;
• Good working knowledge of Python;
• Good knowledge of AI and machine learning fundamentals;
• Good knowledge of software architecture, APIs, microservices, and Docker;
• Good knowledge of software development methodologies (e.g. AGILE);
• Capability of integration in an international/multi-cultural environment;
• Ability to cope with fast changing technologies used in application developments.

Desirable:

• Experience with: performing design, implementation, and optimisation of scalable AI based software solutions;
• A minimum of 1 year of experience with: building test sets and automated evaluations to measure system performance and model accuracy, detecting regressions after model or prompting changes, and complementing standard unit and integration tests;
• Good knowledge of basic statistics and evaluation metrics (precision, recall, F1, error rates);
• Ability to participate in multi-lingual meetings, ease of communication.

Duties/role:

• Performing the design, implementation, and optimisation of scalable AI-based software solutions indicated by Europol;
• Researching, reviewing, testing, and suggesting for selection by Europol open-source AI models to perform specific data processing tasks;
• Integrating AI models indicated by Europol into modular components and building pipelines combining multiple AI-based modules;
• Implementing features and fixes in existing software products using Python as the programming language;
• Compiling relevant technical documentation, recording technical decisions, and providing usage instructions to enable others to understand and work with the software concerned;
• Performing unit and integration testing, identifying and fixing defects, and verifying that the software behaves as intended;
• Performing any other relevant tasks as requested.
