Software Development Manager , Amazon Supply Chain Services

DESCRIPTION

Merchants should be able to use Amazon’s fulfillment capabilities wherever they sell. Making that possible requires software that connects sales channels with fulfillment services, simplifies complex supply chain workflows, and gives merchants visibility into what happens after an order is placed.
Amazon’s Multi-Channel Commerce and Fulfillment team is looking for a Software Development Manager in Hyderabad to lead an engineering team building these capabilities. Our work helps merchants access Amazon’s supply chain services beyond the Amazon marketplace and manage their businesses through connected, intuitive experiences.
In this role, you will own the technical direction and delivery of a
product and services portfolio, from merchant-facing workflows to the distributed systems behind them. You will partner with product managers and engineering teams across Amazon to translate customer problems into a focused roadmap, make architectural decisions, and deliver reliable software. The technical challenges include coordinating workflows across independently owned services, maintaining consistent order and shipment state, and making complex integrations easier for merchants to use.
We are looking for a hands-on technical leader who can develop engineers, bring clarity to ambiguous problems, and balance delivery speed with long-term system health. You will have end-to-end accountability for your team’s software and its customer outcomes, including architecture, execution and production operations.

Key job responsibilities
Set technical direction: Own your team’s architecture and engineering roadmap, making explicit tradeoffs across customer value, reliability, delivery timelines and operational cost.
Deliver customer outcomes: Partner with product and program leaders to turn merchant needs into well-scoped initiatives with measurable success criteria.
Build dependable systems: Lead the design and delivery of distributed services and customer experiences that integrate with Amazon’s fulfillment and supply chain platforms.
Develop the team: Hire and coach engineers, provide actionable feedback, and create opportunities for technical growth and increasing ownership.
Own operational performance: Establish metrics for service health and customer experience, strengthen testing and observability, and address recurring defects at their source.
Lead across team boundaries: Align partner teams on interfaces and dependencies, resolve technical disagreements, and communicate decisions and risks clearly to leadership.

BASIC QUALIFICATIONS

• 3+ years of engineering team management experience
• 7+ years of engineering experience
• Knowledge of engineering practices and patterns for the full software/hardware/networks development life cycle, including coding standards, code reviews, source control management, build processes, testing, certification, and livesite operations
• Experience partnering with product or program management teams
• Experience designing or architecting (design patterns, reliability and scaling) of new and existing systems
• Bachelor's degree in computer science or equivalent

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

• Experience in communicating with users, other technical teams, and senior leadership to collect requirements, describe software product features, technical designs, and product strategy
• Experience in recruiting, hiring, mentoring/coaching and managing teams of Software Engineers to improve their skills, and make them more effective, product software engineers
