Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or an equivalent field
• 3-5 years of experience as a Software Engineer with progressive responsibilities
• 2+ years of experience in a senior engineering or technical leadership role
• 3+ years of production experience with Ruby on Rails development
• 3+ years of front-end development experience using CSS, HTML5, JavaScript, TypeScript, and React
• Strong experience developing and integrating RESTful APIs
• Strong experience working with SQL databases and backend development
• In-depth knowledge of RSpec, Jest, Test-Driven Development (TDD), and automated testing practices
• Proficiency with Git and GitHub for version control and team collaboration
• Experience with Sidekiq, Bootstrap, and PostgreSQL
• Strong system design, software architecture, and technical decision-making skills
• Experience leading Agile ceremonies, sprint planning, and engineering delivery
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills
• Proven ability to mentor, coach, and develop engineering talent

Responsibilities

Engineering Leadership & Delivery

• Lead and mentor a team of software engineers through code reviews, technical guidance, and career development.
• Facilitate sprint planning, retrospectives, and technical discussions.
• Inspire ownership, accountability, and engineering excellence across the team.

Architecture & Development

• Design and architect scalable solutions for new features and system enhancements.
• Build roadmap-driven features using efficient Ruby code and proven design patterns.
• Maintain and enhance existing code, tests, and features while managing technical debt.
• Translate business requirements and data models into scalable applications and architecture.

Quality, Testing & Best Practices

• Establish and enforce coding, documentation, and testing standards.
• Write and review unit and integration tests before production releases.
• Conduct design and code reviews to ensure adherence to engineering best practices.

Integration & Platform Support

• Design and implement enterprise-scale solutions aligned with business strategy.
• Develop and integrate REST APIs while evaluating third-party integration approaches.
• Integrate applications with external platforms and existing IT infrastructure.

Collaboration & Stakeholder Engagement

• Partner with product managers and stakeholders to define technical scope and requirements.
• Communicate technical concepts effectively with both technical and non-technical audiences.
• Advocate for exceptional user experience, system reliability, and product quality.

Continuous Improvement

• Stay current with emerging technologies, frameworks, and engineering tools.
• Share technical knowledge and continuous improvement initiatives across the engineering team.
• Support the delivery of new business capabilities through modern software engineering practices.
