Software Engineer - AI

For our client, we are seeking a Software Engineer - AI to join the team of a leader in the Enterprise Technology space.

This role will focus on building and enhancing production AI services that support meaningful business outcomes at scale. You will translate product needs into practical solutions, with an emphasis on backend engineering, applied AI, and reliable system design. The position also involves close collaboration across product and engineering to deliver robust workflows, retrieval capabilities, and model evaluation practices.

Location: Remote - US based candidates only, no visa sponsorship available

Compensation: $110,000 – $130,000 annually

Responsibilities

• Translate product requirements into effective AI solutions using a range of methodologies
• Build production AI services using Python and related technologies
• Implement and maintain reliable agent workflows that interact with internal systems
• Develop event-driven workflows using messaging platforms and ensure fault tolerance
• Enhance retrieval-augmented generation systems, including data processing and citations
• Evaluate AI models and systems using metrics and performance checks
• Use coding agents to improve engineering processes and streamline development

Qualifications

• 3+ years of software engineering experience in production backend systems
• 1+ year of experience with Applied AI, LLM, RAG, NLP, or agent-based applications
• Strong Python skills, particularly in FastAPI and asynchronous programming
• Knowledge of backend and distributed systems fundamentals, including REST APIs and production debugging
• Experience with queue and messaging architectures such as RabbitMQ or Kafka
• Hands-on experience integrating LLM APIs and building workflows
• Familiarity with PostgreSQL and data modeling; exposure to Redis and vector databases
