Software Engineer - Applications and Data Systems

Remote | Philippines | Minimum 10 years of relevant experience

We are looking for a highly technically capable Software Engineer – Applications and Data Systems to join an Australian technology company’s Product Engineering team.

You’ll develop reliable applications, web interfaces, automation tools and cloud-backed data services using C++, Python, HTML/JavaScript and AWS.
This is a hands-on role for someone who takes ownership, solves complex technical problems and follows through on delivery. Experience in the Philippine MedTech sector is preferred.

You will operate as a Level 2 individual contributor (IC) within the company’s five-level structure, working closely with engineering and data science teams under the technical direction of the Head of Product Engineering.  

Key Responsibilities:

Application & Web Development

• Develop and debug C++/Qt applications and backend components
• Work on device interfaces, application state, recording and data export
• Build HTML/JavaScript interfaces, reports and API integrations for reviewing recordings, test results and analysis outputs

Python, Automation & Data Processing

• Develop Python tools for data processing, file conversion and test automation
• Create repeatable engineering workflows and reproducible software pipelines
• Work with data science specialists to turn agreed analyses into maintainable software
• Preserve source data and validate outputs with relevant specialists

Cloud & Data Services

• Implement data upload, storage, indexing and processing services
• Support cloud deployment, access controls, monitoring and troubleshooting
• Maintain data integrity, secure access and reliable error handling

Software Quality & Delivery

• Write unit and integration tests, debug faults and review code
• Contribute to CI, traceable releases and clear technical documentation
• Own assigned features and tools, estimate work and flag blockers early
• Explain technical decisions clearly and follow quality and security controls

What We’re Looking For:
We’re looking for someone with:

• At least 10 years of professional software development experience
• Strong practical programming skills in C++ or Python, with working knowledge of the other
• Experience delivering maintainable software and debugging complex faults
• Working experience with HTML, CSS, JavaScript, APIs and structured data
• Experience with backend or data systems and AWS or comparable cloud services
• Familiarity with Git, Linux, build tools and CI workflows
• Experience writing unit tests and supporting integration testing
• Experience working in companies that have successfully submitted products to the FDA or other relevant regulatory authorities
• A high degree of collaboration demonstrated through work with engineering, data science or other specialist teams
• Excellent written and spoken English
• A degree in software engineering, computer science or a related discipline, or equivalent practical experience

Experience in MedTech in the Philippines is highly desirable. Experience with Qt/QML, device software, scientific analysis workflows or regulated software requirements, traceability and verification would also be valuable.

Beyond technical skills, you need to be dependable, collaborative and comfortable taking ownership of your work.
