Was among the first 100 engineers at one of the world's largest social networks, and has also held engineering roles at a major search company and a leading commerce‑personalization platform.
• Co‑Founder & President — A go‑to‑market leader with extensive experience as CGO, CRO, and VP of Revenue. Has helped multiple startups build their growth story from the ground up.
• Head of Engineering — Brings over 20 years of experience across top tech companies and high‑growth startups, including executive engineering roles at a major sales enablement company and at a large social media platform, where he led the Ads organization, scaling it to roughly 400 people and driving revenue to $1.5B. Has also co‑founded several startups, including one with a successful exit.

About the Role

Our client is seeking a mid‑level software engineer who is passionate about delivering exceptional customer value and driving meaningful business outcomes. This is a newly created role reporting directly to an Engineering Manager / Tech Lead within the engineering organization. Rather than being locked into a single feature area, the engineer will work broadly across platform and backend services, with a strong LLM‑powered application component. Ownership areas are dynamic and evolve with the business, offering meaningful exposure across the product.

Responsibilities

• Identify and address system‑level challenges that hinder customer value delivery and prolong time to value — by improving, overhauling, or designing new systems.
• Design, develop, and evaluate LLM‑powered applications and capabilities, leveraging prompt engineering and emerging AI technologies to deliver meaningful customer value and improve product outcomes.
• Design, build, test, and maintain scalable backend services and integrations with third‑party providers.
• Partner cross‑functionally with product, customer success, and implementation teams to prioritize initiatives that drive customer retention, activation, and growth. This includes triaging and resolving customer‑reported issues surfaced by the customer success team.
• Act as a force multiplier by fostering a culture of customer‑centric thinking and engineering excellence.

Qualifications

• 5+ years of software engineering experience, or equivalent, as a full stack or backend engineer.
• Extensive experience architecting, designing, and developing scalable and reliable backend services for SaaS platforms.
• Experience working with and evaluating LLMs, including prompt engineering and LLM‑based application development. Note: model training experience is not required — the emphasis is on practical, applied use of commercial LLM providers to reliably produce quality outcomes.
• Deep hands‑on experience with cloud platforms such as AWS, Azure, or Google Cloud.
• Solid understanding of both SQL and NoSQL database systems.
• Strong problem‑solving skills and a proven ability to thrive in collaborative, cross‑functional team environments.
• Entrepreneurial mindset, with experience — or a strong desire — to work in fast‑paced startup environments.
• Strong customer‑centric, results‑oriented, and data‑driven approach to decision‑making.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
• High level of ownership, accountability, and a strong work ethic.

Nice to Have

• Experience with Node.js, MongoDB, and AWS platforms and services.
• Experience working with or integrating into modern sales tech stacks (e.g., CRMs, sales engagement platforms).

No specific programming language is required. Candidates may interview in whichever language they are most comfortable with — Python, Java, C#, JavaScript, or otherwise.

Pay range and compensation package

Compensation: $130,000 – $160,000 CAD base, plus equity

Work Arrangement

Hybrid, based out of the Vancouver office. This is a low‑commute hybrid role; five days per week on‑site is not expected.

Interview Process

• Recruiter screen
• Résumé review — Conducted by the hiring manager.
• Hiring manager screen — A mix of background, behavioural, and technical discussion.
• Live coding exercise — Conducted by a developer on the team using an online collaborative coding tool. Not a take‑home. This is a high‑bar stage.
• Product interview — Product sense and behavioural conversation.
• Final interview — Technical and behavioural conversation with the Head of Engineering.
