Software Engineer

Position Summary:

The Software Engineer – Fintech & Payment Channels is responsible for designing, developing, securing, and maintaining high-throughput payment gateways, financial transaction systems, and merchant integration channels. Reporting directly to the President, this role plays a pivotal part in engineering real-time transaction processing systems, integrating third-party payment providers, and ensuring transactional integrity using React, Node.js, and SQL databases.

The ideal candidate is a security-minded developer with experience in financial software engineering, payment processing workflows, and high-reliability API development. They bring deep technical expertise in managing distributed financial state, ledger balances, and automated reconciliation systems while strictly adhering to financial security, data privacy, and compliance standards.

Key Responsibilities

1. Full-Stack Application Development & Optimization

· Build, maintain, and enhance responsive frontend interfaces using React (Hooks, State Management, Modern UI frameworks).

· Design, build, and maintain scalable backend RESTful APIs and microservices using Node.js (Express/NestJS).

· Architect and implement high-concurrency, low-latency transaction processing APIs and webhooks using Node.js (Express/NestJS).

· Monitor application performance, logs, and API latency to identify bottlenecks, bugs, or performance issues across the stack.

· Write, optimize, and maintain complex SQL queries, stored procedures, and database schemas (PostgreSQL / MySQL / MS SQL).

2. Cloud Deployment & Service Integration

· Deploy and manage Node.js services and React frontend builds to cloud infrastructure (AWS / Google Cloud).

· Integrate third-party APIs, payment gateways, and external web services cleanly with Node.js backends.

· Ensure data security, environment variable configuration, and safe database access controls across development, staging, and production environments.

3. System Reliability, Idempotency & Troubleshooting

· Ensure strict idempotency across payment processing routes to guarantee that retried or duplicate HTTP requests do not cause duplicate charges or balance discrepancies.

· Diagnose, debug, and resolve high-priority payment processing failures, webhook drop-offs, database lockouts, and timeout issues across payment rails.

· Build automated retry logic, dead-letter queues, and fallback routing for third-party payment partner downtimes.

4. Testing, Auditing & Documentation

· L Develop automated unit, integration, and end-to-end tests for critical payment paths, fee calculation logic, and webhook handling (Jest, Supertest).

· Maintain immutable audit logs for every transaction lifecycle event (Initiated, Pending, Settled, Refunded, Voided, Failed).

· Maintain up-to-date technical documentation, open-API specifications (Swagger), and integration guides for internal teams and merchant partners.

5. Technology Strategy & Innovation

· Evaluate new or existing software and hardware solutions for suitability.

· Research and recommend upgrades or replacements based on company needs.

· Stay updated on emerging technologies and drive adoption to enhance productivity and security.

Qualifications:

Education & Experience

· Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Computer Engineering, or a related technical discipline.

· 2-5 years of hands-on software development experience, with at least 1-2 years specifically focused on fintech, payment gateways, e-commerce checkout, e-wallets, or core banking platforms.

· Proven experience building or integrating payment processors, webhooks, or financial ledger systems.

Skills & Competencies

Technical Expertise

• Strong understanding of payment gateway lifecycle (Auth, Capture, Void, Refund, Settlement, Chargebacks), webhook handling, and ISO 8583 / JSON financial protocols.
• Proficiency in Node.js (TypeScript / ES6+) building asynchronous, event-driven architectures (Message Queues like Redis, RabbitMQ, or Kafka are a strong plus).
• Strong proficiency in React.js for building responsive merchant portals, checkout widgets, and transaction reporting dashboards.
• Deep expertise in SQL (PostgreSQL / MySQL) with emphasis on database transactions (BEGIN/COMMIT/ROLLBACK), isolation levels, row-level locking, and query tuning.
• Hands-on experience with API security, TLS, JWT, OAuth2, SHA-256 hashing, and PCI-DSS compliance practices.

Core Competencies

• Extreme meticulousness regarding decimal precision, currency formatting, and state synchronization in code.
• Capability to trace transaction failures across client, API, network, database, and 3rd-party vendor logs under high pressure.
• Ability to write clear API documentation and coordinate effectively with bank partners, acquirers, and merchant integration teams.

Pay: Php40,000.00 - Php50,000.00 per month
