Software Engineer

• We are looking for a highly skilled Mid level full-stack engineer to join the DAAS team located in Waltham Massachusetts
• DAAS is a nascent initiative and you’ll have the opportunity to affect its direction
• You’ll take the lead in bringing in new ideas, testing and validating them quickly and independently, and incorporating them while socializing them with the team
• Design, develop, and maintain backend systems using Java and Node.js frameworks like NestJS
• Build scalable systems using event streaming technologies like Kafka
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams to understand and implement new features and functionalities for the platform
• Refactor and improve existing codebases to enhance performance, scalability, and maintainability
• Develop and implement RESTful APIs adhering to best practices and design patterns
• Work with cutting-edge cloud technologies

• The ideal candidate is an experienced software engineer having knowledge of complex system design with excellent problem solving skills
• Masters in Computer Science and 2+ years of experience as a Backend Software Engineer with a focus on Java and Node.js or 4+ years of experience and Bachelors in Computer Science
• Familiarity with designing, building, and maintaining RESTful web APIs
• Strong desire to seek pragmatic, innovative solutions to complex business and technical problems
• Excellent interpersonal skills and ability to collaborate with internal teams including customer support, product, and engineering
• Familiarity with software development best practices, including SOLID principles, design patterns, and unit testing
• Demonstrable contributions to open-source projects
• Experience with Kafka or other messaging systems for real-time data processing
• Experience with cloud technologies, specifically AWS and GCP, including deploying, monitoring, and scaling applications
• Experience building microservices architectures
• Virtualization and orchestration of applications (Docker/Kubernetes/ECS)
