Software Engineer

THE ROLE

We're looking for an early-career software engineer who is excited about building AI-powered products and learning quickly in a startup environment. You don't need years of experience, but you should be comfortable building software, curious about AI, and eager to take ownership of meaningful work.

This is a startup role. You'll work closely with experienced engineers and founders, contribute to real product development from day one, and have the opportunity to grow rapidly as both an engineer and AI practitioner.

There are no large teams or rigid processes here. We value initiative, learning, and the ability to move from idea to implementation with guidance and support.

WHAT YOU'LL DO

• Build and improve AI-powered product features including document ingestion pipelines, search experiences, chat interfaces, and workflow automation tools
• Integrate with LLM providers such as OpenAI and Anthropic under the guidance of senior team members
• Write clean, maintainable Python and TypeScript code across backend services and frontend applications
• Contribute to feature development throughout the product lifecycle, from design discussions to deployment
• Learn and apply best practices for prompt engineering, retrieval-augmented generation (RAG), and AI application development
• Assist with testing, debugging, monitoring, and improving system reliability
• Participate in technical discussions and contribute ideas for product and engineering improvements
• Collaborate effectively in a remote-first, asynchronous environment

WHAT WE'RE LOOKING FOR

Technical Foundations

• 0–2 years of professional software engineering experience, including internships, freelance work, university projects, or personal projects
• Familiarity with Python and TypeScript
• Understanding of software engineering fundamentals including APIs, databases, version control, and testing
• Ability to learn new technologies quickly and apply them in practical projects

AI Interest and Fluency

• Strong interest in AI and large language models
• Experience using LLM APIs, AI frameworks, or building AI-related projects through coursework, internships, personal projects, or hackathons
• Basic understanding of concepts such as prompt engineering, embeddings, vector search, or retrieval-augmented generation
• Curiosity about how AI systems work and where they can create business value

• Excited by startup environments and learning through building
• Takes initiative and seeks solutions independently before asking for help
• Comfortable working with evolving requirements and ambiguity
• Strong communication skills in a remote environment

NICE TO HAVE

• Internship, co-op, or project experience building web applications
• Experience with AI tools, frameworks, or APIs such as OpenAI, Anthropic, LangChain, LlamaIndex, or similar technologies
• Familiarity with cloud platforms such as AWS, GCP, or Azure
• Exposure to document processing, search systems, or data pipelines
• Experience in construction, proptech, or other document-heavy industries
• Familiarity with multilingual text processing
• Exposure to agentic AI concepts such as tool use and multi-step workflows
