Department: Retail Technology Operations

Job Summary

Serve as a senior technical resource responsible for the support, stability, modernization, and continuous improvement of Albertsons' Retail Store Systems, store inventory and order management solutions, and related retail applications. The role is accountable for maintaining operational excellence across business-critical customer-facing and store operations systems, resolving complex production issues, driving automation initiatives, and supporting the reliability and resiliency of technology platforms operating across Albertsons' retail network

Key Responsibilities

Retail Store Systems Support

• Analyze, troubleshoot, and resolve complex production incidents impacting store inventory and order management, and store operations.
• Support integration efforts between inventory and order management, and enterprise systems such as supply chain and warehouse.

Store Technology Engineering

• Support store infrastructure components including store servers, peripherals and backstage servers.
• Design and implement solutions to improve system reliability, stability, performance, and recoverability.
• Participate in store rollouts, technology deployments, hardware refreshes, and platform upgrades.
• Support integration efforts between ordering systems, inventory, and enterprise systems.

Systems Integration and Application Engineering

• Develop, enhance, and maintain software solutions supporting retail business processes and store operations.
• Support enterprise integrations utilizing Kafka, APIs, batch processing, data pipelines, and cloud-based platforms.
• Perform application configuration, deployment validation, testing, and production readiness reviews.

Reliability, Automation and Continuous Improvement

• Develop automation solutions to eliminate recurring operational tasks and improve support efficiency.
• Implement monitoring, alerting, diagnostics, and self-healing capabilities across retail platforms.
• Partner with Site Reliability Engineering (SRE), Infrastructure, Cybersecurity, Product, and Application Development teams to improve operational resilience.
• Drive modernization initiatives focused on observability, automation, cloud adoption, and AI-enabled operations.

Technical Leadership

• Mentor junior engineers and provide technical guidance during complex troubleshooting efforts.
• Contribute to knowledge management, operational runbooks, standard operating procedures, and support documentation.
• Participate in major incident reviews and reliability improvement initiatives.
• Act as a subject matter expert for assigned applications and retail technologies.

Required Qualifications

• Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Engineering, or related discipline.
• Minimum of 5 years of progressive experience supporting retail store systems, , enterprise software platforms, or large-scale production environments.
• Minimum of 5 years of hands-on experience supporting retail store technologies, or comparable enterprise retail solutions.

• Experience supporting:

Enterprise monitoring and observability tools

Experience leading production stabilization efforts for newly deployed retail technologies.

Preferred AI Skills

• Experience utilizing Microsoft Copilot, GitHub Copilot, ChatGPT, Claude, or similar AI-assisted engineering tools.
• Knowledge of Prompt Engineering, Retrieval-Augmented Generation (RAG), and AI-enabled operational support workflows.
• Experience leveraging AI to accelerate troubleshooting, automation development, root-cause analysis, documentation generation, and software engineering productivity.
• Ability to identify and implement GenAI opportunities that improve operational efficiency, incident resolution, and engineering effectiveness.
