Software Engineer

About the Role:

At Trasteel, you will build the trading system behind our intraday power activity: exchange connectivity, real-time market data, and the execution and risk tooling the desk relies on every day. Intraday power is a fast-moving, data-driven market, and you will own the technology that lets us act on opportunities in real time, working directly with the traders and researchers who use it.

You will join a small team where your work goes into production quickly, and its impact on trading performance is directly visible. We offer a full-time position based in Lugano.

Responsibilities:

• Design and build mission-critical intraday trading systems: exchange connectivity, market data ingestion, order execution, and risk tooling.
• Operate and harden production systems, monitoring, alerting, and incident response, with a focus on stability and performance.
• Collaborate closely with traders and researchers to turn strategy ideas into reliable, automated execution.
• Continuously improve the trading stack as markets, exchanges, and our strategies evolve.

Requirements:

• Master’s or PhD in computer science , s oftware engineering, mathematics, physics, data science or a related field.
• Experience building and operating production trading systems, ideally in power or commodities markets.
• Comfort with exchange APIs and streaming protocols (WebSockets, REST); experience with EPEX M7, GME, or Nord Pool APIs is a strong plus.
• Excellent Rust and Python skills.
• Strong software engineering fundamentals: testing, CI, version control, code review, observability, and clean design.
