Software Engineer

Build and maintain software that helps education institutions manage student information and meet regulatory reporting requirements.

Tribal is a leading EdTech company providing software and services that support education institutions globally. Our Software Development team designs, develops and delivers reliable software that underpins student success.

The team attends the Manila office twice a month. Remote working can be considered for candidates who live farther away. Working hours are flexible, with the team usually working 8am to 5pm or 9am to 6pm.

The Role

We’re looking for a Software Engineer to join our Software Development team in Manila, supporting EBS, Tribal’s student information system. You’ll develop and maintain application features using C#/.NET Framework and Angular, including API integrations supporting regulatory reporting for New Zealand education institutions. Working with the wider team, you’ll turn requirements into reliable, secure and tested software.

Key Responsibilities

• Translate user requirements and functional and technical specifications into clear designs and maintainable code.

• Develop and maintain application features and API integrations using C#/.NET Framework and Angular, following agreed design principles and coding standards.

• Investigate defects, identify root causes and assess the impact of changes before implementing fixes.

• Write unit tests, participate in code reviews and review test coverage to support code quality and secure development.

• Estimate and prioritise work, document changes and contribute to team discussions and improvements in development practices.

What You’ll Bring

Essential

• Commercial software development experience with C# and .NET Framework. Around two years’ relevant experience is a guide; we’ll consider the skills and experience you bring.

• Experience with REST API design, Git source control and unit testing, using tools such as NUnit and Moq.

• An understanding of software design principles and secure coding, including preventing cross-site scripting (XSS) and handling HTML sanitisation.

• Strong analytical and troubleshooting skills, with the ability to plan and prioritise work with minimal supervision and collaborate effectively with colleagues.

Desirable

• Experience with modern Angular (v15 or later), TypeScript and RxJS, including Angular components and client-side testing with tools such as Jest or Karma.

• Experience with Windows Communication Foundation (WCF) and Windows Workflow Foundation.

• Familiarity with Git LFS and application security analysis tools such as Endor or SonarQube, including static application security testing (SAST) and software composition analysis (SCA).

• Experience using AI tools such as Claude to support software development.

Pre-Employment Checks

All successful candidates will be required to provide a National Bureau of Investigation (NBI) clearance certificate prior to commencing employment. This serves as both the criminal records check and evidence of right to work for Filipino nationals.
