Job Description:

We are seeking a Software Engineer to support the design, development, implementation, integration, and testing of software for large-scale communications system demonstrations. The successful candidate will work in a disciplined, collaborative environment using modern software development practices.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

• Define software architectures for communications-based systems.
• Design and implement system software, primarily in C++.
• Develop communication protocols and state machines in collaboration with system designers.
• Translate prototype simulations into real-time software.
• Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to design and prototype software solutions.
• Support software integration, test design, laboratory activities, and field experiments.
• Prepare and maintain technical documentation, including software architecture documents, technical specifications, reports, and presentations.
• Communate technical concepts effectively to internal and external audiences.
• Apply software lifecycle processes, modern deployment techniques, and DevSecOps practices.
• Support software algorithm development and performance improvements.

Qualifications:

• Bachelor of Science degree with at least five years of directly relevant experience, or equivalent relevant qualifications.
• Experience with C++ and C++11.
• Experience with Java and JavaScript.
• Experience with source-control systems such as Git, SVN, or ClearCase.
• Experience with object-oriented software development.
• Experience with software modeling and the Unified Modeling Language (UML).
• Knowledge of modern software deployment techniques.
• Experience with software DevSecOps.
• Experience with software algorithms and performance optimization.
• Knowledge of design patterns and data structures.
• Experience with distributed systems and interprocess communication technologies such as UDP, TCP, or ActiveMQ.
• Experience with Linux development environments and/or commercial real-time operating systems.
• Experience with hardware abstraction layers.
• Familiarity with software lifecycle processes.
• Highly effective written and verbal communication skills, particularly in technical documentation.
• Demonstrated ability to work effectively in multidisciplinary teams.
• An interim security clearance is sufficient to begin the assignment.

Desired Experience:

• Experience with digital signal processing.
• Experience implementing communications protocols and methods in software.
• Proficiency with Python.
• Familiarity with MATLAB.
• Experience planning and managing tasks or projects using tools such as Microsoft Project.
