2. The Opportunity

We are seeking a talented, entrepreneurial Software Engineer to join CLM AI as an early member of our founding technology team, working remotely from New York City.

This is an opportunity to help develop the technical foundations of an ambitious AI-powered media platform as it moves from MVP development towards commercial launch.

Working directly with the Founder & CEO, the successful candidate will help evolve our existing web and app products, integrate AI technologies, build scalable software infrastructure and develop new features that bring our creator and digital personality ecosystem to life.

The successful candidate will be comfortable operating in an early-stage environment, taking ownership of technical challenges and translating product ideas into reliable, production-ready software.

We are looking for someone who combines strong engineering fundamentals with curiosity, commercial awareness and a genuine interest in the future of AI.

3. Key Responsibilities

Software Engineering & Product Development

• Develop, maintain and improve CLM AI's web applications, mobile experiences and supporting software infrastructure.
• Translate product requirements and business objectives into technical specifications and working software.
• Build reliable, secure, maintainable and scalable application features.
• Improve the existing MVP and support the transition towards a commercially viable product.
• Collaborate with the Founder & CEO, AI Engineer and other future team members to deliver the product roadmap.

AI Integration & Digital Experiences

• Integrate third-party AI models, APIs and services into CLM AI's platform.
• Support the development of AI-powered digital personalities, creator avatars and interactive user experiences.
• Help integrate conversational AI, voice technologies, multimedia capabilities and personalised content experiences.
• Build the software interfaces and backend services required to connect AI capabilities with user-facing products.
• Work with the AI Engineer to turn AI prototypes into dependable product features.

Backend, APIs & Infrastructure

• Develop and maintain backend services, APIs, databases and authentication systems.
• Design integrations with external platforms, creator tools and content services.
• Support cloud infrastructure, deployment pipelines, monitoring and application performance.
• Implement appropriate data protection, access controls and security practices.
• Design systems with future user growth, subscription revenue and international expansion in mind.

Quality, Security & Reliability

• Write clean, testable and well-documented code.
• Develop automated tests and participate in code reviews.
• Identify and resolve bugs, performance issues and technical bottlenecks.
• Apply secure software development practices and help protect user information.
• Contribute to technical documentation and establish sound engineering standards from an early stage.

Product Strategy & Team Collaboration

• Participate in technical planning, product prioritisation and architecture decisions.
• Identify opportunities to improve development speed, product quality and operational efficiency.
• Communicate technical trade-offs clearly to non-technical stakeholders.
• Help establish CLM AI's engineering culture, development processes and long-term technical foundations.

4. Essential Skills & Experience

• Professional experience developing and shipping software applications.
• Strong proficiency in a modern programming language such as TypeScript, JavaScript, Python, Java, Go or an equivalent.
• Experience with modern frontend frameworks, preferably React or Next.js.
• Experience developing backend services, REST APIs or equivalent application interfaces.
• Practical experience with relational databases and data modelling, such as PostgreSQL.
• Understanding of cloud hosting, deployment, version control and CI/CD workflows.
• Familiarity with software testing, debugging, application security and performance optimisation.
• Ability to work independently in a remote environment and manage competing priorities.
• Strong problem-solving skills, attention to detail and clear communication.
• A portfolio of shipped products, projects or demonstrable engineering work.

5. Desirable Skills & Experience

• Experience building AI-enabled applications or integrating large language model APIs.
• Familiarity with AI agent frameworks, conversational interfaces or generative media tools.
• Experience with voice, video, avatar or multimedia integrations.
• Knowledge of subscription platforms, payment processing and user account management.
• Experience with cloud platforms such as AWS, Google Cloud or Microsoft Azure.
• Familiarity with mobile application development or cross-platform technologies.
• Experience building consumer applications with strong user engagement.
• Previous experience in a startup, scale-up, creator economy, entertainment or media technology business.
• Experience designing systems for high availability, privacy and future scalability.

6. Technology Environment

The precise stack will be agreed with the successful candidate based on CLM AI's existing MVP, current infrastructure and product roadmap.

Potential technologies include:

7. What Success Looks Like

First 30 days

• Understand CLM AI's vision, existing MVP, architecture and technical priorities.
• Review the existing codebase and identify critical technical improvements.
• Agree on an initial development roadmap with the Founder & CEO.
• Establish a clear understanding of development workflows, responsibilities and delivery milestones.

First 60 days

• Begin delivering prioritised product improvements and new functionality.
• Implement or improve key backend services and AI integrations.
• Address significant reliability, security, testing or performance issues.
• Establish a consistent development and reporting process.

First 90 days

• Deliver measurable improvements to product functionality and technical quality.
• Support progress towards a launch-ready, commercially viable platform.
• Document the architecture, deployment processes and key technical decisions.
• Establish a realistic plan for subsequent development, testing and scaling.

Success will be measured against agreed deliverables, product quality, reliability, collaboration and progress towards the launch roadmap.

8. Candidate Profile

We are looking for an engineer who wants to help build something meaningful, rather than simply complete tickets.

You should be curious about AI, commercially minded and comfortable working closely with a founder. You should enjoy solving problems, challenging assumptions constructively and making pragmatic technical decisions.

You do not need to have worked in a large technology company. Demonstrable engineering ability, sound judgement, ownership and the capacity to deliver are more important than an impressive job title.

Experience with AI and creator technology is advantageous, but a strong software engineering foundation and the ability to learn quickly are essential.

9. Location & Working Arrangements

• Remote-first position based in New York City, USA.
• Work primarily from your NYC home office or another suitable remote workspace.
• Collaborate with an internationally minded founding team and external technology partners.
• Maintain regular communication with the Founder & CEO and AI Engineer.
• Participate in agreed planning meetings, progress reviews and product demonstrations.
• Work collaboratively across time zones where required.

Any required travel, working-hour expectations and cross-border arrangements will be agreed in advance.

10. Compensation & Engagement

Compensation will be determined according to experience, technical capability, responsibilities and the company's recruitment budget.

The final offer will specify the salary or contractual rate, employment status, benefits and any applicable incentive arrangements.
