Software Engineering Consultant– London– Hybrid – Permanent 37.5 hours per week - £39,000 - £77,000 – Active DV Clearance Required

Our client is a global consultancy company looking to expand their teams of consultants across multiple teams and locations within their Defence practice, working on some of the most ambitious programmes in the Defence and National Security sector. You will work alongside clients to understand complex challenges, shape solutions and support the successful delivery of cutting-edge programmes.

Working Patterns and location – Hybrid working 3 days per week on chosen site, with travel to local client sites in the UK required.

The Key Responsibilities of a Software Engineering Consultant include:

· You will contribute across the software development lifecycle, turning user and business requirements into reliable, maintainable solutions. This could include developing web applications and APIs, building automated testing frameworks, creating data pipelines and models, integrating systems, or delivering cloud-native and containerised applications.

· Working closely with developers, testers, DevOps engineers, UX specialists, business analysts and client stakeholders, you will help ensure solutions are secure, scalable and fit for purpose. You will also contribute to code reviews, technical discussions, troubleshooting and continuous improvement, with opportunities to influence tooling and technical approaches as your experience develops.

We are interested in candidates with Key Skills across one or more of the following areas:

· Strong software engineering or development experience using languages such as Java, Python, C#, JavaScript or TypeScript.

· Experience with front-end development, including HTML, CSS, JavaScript and modern web frameworks.

· Experience developing back-end services, APIs, microservices or full-stack applications.

· Knowledge of cloud-native development, particularly within AWS or similar cloud environments.

· Experience working with CI/CD, DevOps or DevSecOps tooling such as Jenkins, GitLab, GitHub Actions or Azure DevOps.

· Experience designing and implementing automated testing solutions or frameworks across applications, APIs and services.

· Experience with data engineering, including data pipelines, data modelling, transformation and data quality.

· Experience with Palantir Foundry would be particularly relevant for some opportunities.

· Knowledge of SQL and database technologies, such as PostgreSQL, Oracle or MongoDB.

· Experience working within Agile multidisciplinary engineering teams and collaborating with technical and non-technical stakeholders.

· An understanding of secure software development and engineering best practices, particularly within Defence, Government or other secure environments.

· Strong problem-solving skills with the ability to understand complex technical requirements and translate them into practical solutions.
