A major enterprise organisation is seeking a Software Engineer with strong JavaScript and Google Apps Script development experience to join a large-scale digital transformation programme.

Following a successful migration to Google Workspace and Google Cloud technologies, the organisation is looking for an engineer who can design, develop and support business-critical applications, workflow automations and integrations using Google Apps Script.

This is a hands-on development role focused on building scalable business applications, automating processes and delivering solutions that maximise the value of the organisation's Google Workspace investment.

The Role

As a Software Engineer, you will be responsible for designing, developing and maintaining applications within the Google Workspace ecosystem.

Working closely with business stakeholders and technical teams, you will develop solutions that streamline processes, improve productivity and deliver tangible business value.

You will be expected to take ownership of solutions from requirements gathering through to deployment and ongoing enhancement.

Key Responsibilities

• Design, develop and maintain applications using Google Apps Script.
• Build scalable workflow automation solutions across Google Workspace.
• Develop applications leveraging Google Sheets, Google Docs, Google Forms, Google Drive and Gmail.
• Integrate Google Workspace with internal and third-party applications.
• Develop and consume REST APIs and web services.
• Work closely with stakeholders to understand requirements and translate them into technical solutions.
• Troubleshoot and enhance existing applications and automations.
• Produce technical documentation and support knowledge transfer activities.
• Follow software engineering best practices including testing, version control and code reviews.

Essential Skills & Experience

• Strong commercial experience as a Software Engineer.
• Strong JavaScript development background.
• Proven experience developing applications using Google Apps Script.
• Experience developing solutions within the Google Workspace ecosystem.
• Experience building integrations using REST APIs and web services.
• Strong understanding of application design and software engineering principles.
• Experience working with:

• Gmail
• Google Workspace APIs
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
• Excellent communication and stakeholder engagement skills.

• Google Cloud Platform (GCP) experience.

• Cloud Functions or Cloud Run experience.
• Google Workspace administration knowledge.
