Software Engineer

Job Summary

VSolvit LLC is seeking an experienced Mid-Level Full Stack Software Engineer to join our dynamic team supporting critical U.S. Navy mission applications. In this role, you will play a key part in modernizing and maintaining scalable web applications and microservices. You will work across the full software development lifecycle—from writing modern Angular frontends and Java/Spring Boot backends to refactoring legacy database structures and supporting cloud-native deployments.

Key Responsibilities

• Full-Stack Development: Design, build, and maintain responsive web applications using modern Angular on the frontend and Java / Spring Boot microservices on the backend.
• Database & Data Migration: Write efficient SQL queries, stored procedures, and triggers. Assist in database optimization and legacy data migration efforts (converting Oracle PL/SQL data models to PostgreSQL ).
• API & System Architecture: Develop robust RESTful APIs, integrate backend services, and support microservices running in containerized environments.
• Software Lifecycle & Quality: Participate in Agile/Scrum ceremonies, perform peer code reviews, document technical workflows, and write unit/integration test suites (JUnit).
• Stakeholder Collaboration: Work alongside cross-functional engineering teams and government stakeholders to gather requirements and troubleshoot production issues.

Basic Qualifications

• U.S. Citizenship is strictly required due to DoD security requirements.
• Active DoD Security Clearance (Secret level or higher) or the ability to immediately obtain/reactivate one.
• Education: Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, Information Technology, or a related technical discipline.
• Experience: 3+ years of professional full-stack software development experience.
• Core Tech Stack Proficiency:
• Backend: Hands-on experience developing microservices and REST APIs with Java and Spring Boot .
• Frontend: Professional experience building single-page applications using Angular (TypeScript).
• Database: Strong relational database experience with SQL , PostgreSQL , and/or Oracle (PL/SQL) .
• Ability to obtain and maintain a CompTIA Security+ certification (or DoD 8570 compliance equivalent).

Preferred Qualifications

• Direct experience converting or migrating legacy Oracle (19c+) database logic to PostgreSQL .
• Experience with cloud platforms ( AWS / Azure ), containerization ( Docker, Kubernetes ), and CI/CD deployment pipelines ( Jenkins, GitLab CI ).
• Prior experience supporting U.S. Navy or broader DoD / Defense contractor software engineering projects.
• Exposure to CMMI Level 3 standards or Agile development methodologies.
