Software Engineer

Role Intro

Build software for a business where you can see what happens after your code ships.

We’re hiring an experienced Junior or Mid level software engineer to join a small, experienced team, working across full-stack product features and the systems people use to run a complex physical operation in a growing business.

You’ll build and ship maintainable software and learn how decisions across frontend, backend and data affect the people doing the work. This will suit someone with a couple of years’ experience who wants to learn from senior engineers without being confined to a narrow part of the product.

About Us

The company is a profitable Aussie business with an ambitious engineering team. Its software connects customer orders with production and delivery. You’ll work in the Sydney CBD office alongside experienced engineers and the operational teams using what you build.

The team uses cutting edge AI coding tools & workflows as part of its day-to-day workflow and is developing practical standards around testing, releases and production quality.

About You

You’re curious about how a business works, not just how its software is built.

You understand the problem, before picking up the ticket. You bring ideas, ask for help when you need it and are comfortable having your thinking challenged. You want support from experienced engineers, but you’re also ready to contribute, take responsibility for your work and follow problems through.

Required Skills

• 1 - 3 years of commercial software engineering experience, with sound engineering fundamentals and practical problem-solving skills.
• Comp Sci / Software Engineering Degree from a top 100 global university
• Commercial experience in TypeScript + SQL databases.
• Interest in solving real-world business problems
• Experience using AI coding tools, including reviewing, testing and understanding the code they produce. Opinions & Interest in modern engineering practices.
• Clear communication. You enjoy communicating to non-technical colleagues.

Nice to Have

• An early-career role or graduate programme in a team with strong engineering practices.
• A side business, startup experience or a project you’ve taken through to real users. You want more commercial impact than a larger company offers.

• Salary: AUD $90k-$110k + Super + benefits.
• Location: Sydney CBD, five days per week in the office.
