Software Engineer Developer

Key responsibilities

· Work with users to understand their requirements, then develop, test and release features using PHP and MariaDB.

· Maintain and improve existing applications, including order processing, delivery workflows, reports and invoicing.

· Investigate production issues using logs, data and code; identify the root cause, implement fixes and explain the outcome clearly.

· Integrate courier and partner APIs, including Skynet, LineClear and SPX, with appropriate validation, error handling and logging.

· Build background jobs and scheduled tasks with retries, failure records and safe reprocessing without duplicate transactions.

· Improve slow reports and exports through query tuning, indexes and stored procedures.

· Test changes before release, including data accuracy, API failures, access permissions and existing workflows.

· Use Claude Code in daily development and investigation; critically review and verify generated code before release.

· Review teammates’ merge requests, document important changes and propose practical improvements.

Required skills and experience

· At least 3 years of experience developing and maintaining production web applications in PHP, including PHP 7.4 or 8.x.

· Strong SQL skills, including joins, indexes, EXPLAIN and transactions; experience with MySQL or MariaDB.

· JavaScript and jQuery for server rendered pages, including AJAX and JSON.

· Experience integrating REST APIs and investigating issues involving requests, responses and data mapping.

· Experience using AI coding tools such as Claude Code, Cursor or Copilot, with the ability to review and verify their output; willingness to use Claude Code daily.

· Experience with Git, merge requests and code review.

· Flutter experience for driver app development.

· Understanding of web security, including SQL injection, XSS, CSRF and access control.

· Ability to investigate problems independently, communicate progress and work with users and teammates.

· Good reading and writing skills in English and Chinese, and able to communicate effectively in spoken Mandarin, as the role requires reviewing Chinese requirements and working closely with our China IT team.

Additional advantages

· Experience with OpenCart, Laravel including Blade templates, or CodeIgniter.

· Familiarity with AWS EC2, RDS or S3, Google Cloud Storage, Linux or Terraform.

· Experience in logistics, e-commerce or courier API integrations.

· Experience with queue workers, cron jobs, and Excel or PDF generation.

Pay: RM4,000.00 - RM6,000.00 per month
