Role & responsibilities - Software Engineer Junior/Intern Level Developer (0-2 Years)

Job Profile Summary

In this role, you will be working as part of an agile team to design, develop, enhance, test, deploy and maintain software & applications. As part of this dynamic role, you will report to a Team Lead and work closely with business units and other IT teams to deliver leading edge technology solutions to enable digital capabilities of Prudential Singapore.

Key Responsibilities

• Work as part of a team of developers to analyze, design, develop, test, deploy and support applications to meet business objectives.
• Maintain and support the applications in accordance with the agreed Service Level Agreement (SLA).
• Deliver applications in accordance with relevant IT policies, security guidelines, and procedures
• Assist in analyzing and resolving application defects or system issues under the guidance of senior team members.
• Perform unit testing, code reviews, and assist in technical documentation.

Experience

• 0 - 2 Years in delivering IT Applications, preferably within the Insurance Services Industry.
• Knowledge of Life Insurance Policy Administration system (eg. Life/Asia and Group Asia) will be an added advantage
• Basic understanding of Insurance, Insurance products, market and processes is advantageous
• Basic familiarity with common Insurance pricing calculations is a plus.
• Ability to assist in gathering technical requirements and translating them into development tasks.
• Good communication and interpersonal skills to collaborate effectively within the team.
• Ability to articulate basic technical concepts to non-technical audiences, and a willingness to learn and think creatively.

• Basic to good understanding of software development lifecycle (SDLC), architectures, tools and languages

• Self-motivated with the ability to work both independently and collaboratively across functions.

• Strong problem-analysis skills with a logical approach to troubleshooting.

• Exposure to or practical experience in 1 or more of the following technologies

• AS400 / IBM i, COBOL, SMART400, IBM MQ, Business Objects

• Java EE, .NET, Visual Basic Macro, RDBMS & PL/SQL, NoSQL, Object-Oriented Design, RESTful API, JBoss / IBM WAS, Python

Education

• Bachelor's degree in information technology, computer science, computer engineering, or related field
