About the job
Google's software engineers develop the next-generation technologies that change how billions of users connect, explore, and interact with information and one another. Our products need to handle information at massive scale, and extend well beyond web search. We're looking for engineers who bring fresh ideas from all areas, including information retrieval, distributed computing, large-scale system design, networking and data storage, security, artificial intelligence, natural language processing, UI design and mobile; the list goes on and is growing every day. As a software engineer, you will work on a specific project critical to Google’s needs with opportunities to switch teams and projects as you and our fast-paced business grow and evolve. We need our engineers to be versatile, display leadership qualities and be enthusiastic to take on new problems across the full-stack as we continue to push technology forward.
Join the Wallet 1P Integrations team and help make Wallet an indispensable part of the Google experience! This role zeroes in on our crucial Gmail, Photos and Android integration, powering actionable, intelligent passes in Google Wallet. You'll enhance how we save and use data for receipts, flights, events, loyalty programs, and more, directly impacting millions of users.
Recent launches include improved Gmail, Chrome and Android passport saves to Wallet and autofill from Wallet. Upcoming projects involve expanding Gmail to parsing more attachments such as PDFs and images, and expanding to new, scalable user experiences on Android.
Whether it is paying online with Autofill, using tap and pay in stores, or using the Google Pay app, the Payments team at Google is focused on making payments simple, seamless, and secure. In addition to consumer payment technologies, the Payments team also powers the money movement between Google and its consumers and businesses.
Responsibilities
- Develop, test, and maintain features for importing pass data from Gmail, Photos or Android into Google Wallet. This includes verticals such as receipts, flight reservations, loyalty cards, event tickets, offers, and hotel reservations.
- Design and implement new features, improvements to existing features, and UI building blocks, with a focus on maintainability and reusability within the Google Wallet Android app and in Google Play Services modules.
- Participate actively in code reviews, providing and incorporating feedback to maintain code quality and share knowledge.
- Collaborate with Senior Engineers, Product Managers, UX, and other teams to understand requirements and deliver solutions.
