We are representing one of the investment industry's most selective and intellectually demanding hedge fund environments. The firm operates across global financial markets, pursuing sophisticated investment strategies supported by institutional-scale technology and exceptionally high standards of execution.

We are seeking an outstanding Software Engineer capable of designing, building and taking ownership of complex investment and trading infrastructure. Engineers are expected to demonstrate exceptional analytical ability, independent judgement and the capacity to solve problems that do not come with predefined solutions.

The Role

• Design and engineer sophisticated platforms supporting trading, portfolio management, investment analytics and risk.
• Develop high-performance, production-critical applications using C#/.NET and/or Java.
• Build scalable systems handling complex financial instruments, transactional workflows and large volumes of investment data.
• Take complete technical ownership of systems where reliability, correctness and performance are fundamental.
• Work closely with investment professionals to translate complex financial requirements into robust engineering solutions.
• Challenge existing architectures, identify structural inefficiencies and deliver technically superior alternatives.
• Operate in an environment demanding exceptional precision, accountability and engineering discipline.

Candidate Profile

We are interested in a narrow category of engineers who combine outstanding computer science fundamentals with the ability to operate independently in highly complex financial environments.

• Algorithms & Data Structures: Exceptional command of algorithm design, computational complexity, data structures and optimisation techniques. Candidates must demonstrate the ability to reason about algorithmic efficiency, not simply implement existing solutions.
• Advanced Problem Solving: Ability to deconstruct ambiguous, computationally challenging problems and develop elegant, efficient and mathematically sound solutions.
• Software Engineering: Deep expertise in C#/.NET or Java, including memory management, multithreading, concurrency and performance optimisation.
• Systems Architecture: Strong understanding of distributed systems, asynchronous processing, fault tolerance, scalability and system-level trade-offs.
• Data: Advanced SQL proficiency, including query optimisation, indexing, transactional integrity and complex data structures.
• Computer Science Fundamentals: Strong grounding in algorithms, operating systems, networking, computational efficiency and software design principles.
• Financial Markets: Experience developing sophisticated systems within hedge funds, investment banks, asset managers or trading organisations is highly desirable.
• Academic & Intellectual Rigour: A strong academic background in Computer Science, Mathematics, Engineering or a similarly quantitative discipline is advantageous.

Candidates must be capable of defending architectural decisions, explaining computational trade-offs and demonstrating genuine depth of technical understanding.
