Software Engineer II, Backend (Batch Developer Experience)

For our client, we are seeking a Software Engineer II, Backend (Batch Developer Experience) to join the team of a leader in the Finance & Insurance space.

This role will focus on building and improving backend systems that support batch developer workflows, with an emphasis on scalable, reliable software development. You will partner closely with product management, design, analytics, and engineering peers to deliver work in phased increments and make sound technical tradeoffs. The position also involves strengthening operational visibility, supporting on-call readiness, and contributing to a collaborative engineering culture.

Location: Remote - US based candidates only, no visa sponsorship available

Compensation: $146,000 – $206,000 annually

Responsibilities

• Break down larger projects into smaller tasks and deliver them in phases in collaboration with the team
• Support product development through partnership with product management, design, and analytics
• Create and monitor metrics to ensure operational availability and support on-call efforts
• Participate in team community-building activities, including involvement in the interview process
• Collaborate with peers to articulate technical constraints and make informed decisions

Qualifications

• 1.5+ years of experience as a software engineer
• Proficiency in backend systems development using Python or Kotlin
• Familiarity with distributed systems and technologies such as AWS, MySQL, and Kubernetes
• Ability to transform simple problems into multi-component software solutions with clear, testable code
• Experience navigating large codebases and conducting code reviews
• Demonstrated ownership of personal growth and a proactive approach to seeking feedback
• Strong verbal and written communication skills for effective collaboration
