Software Engineer II, Backend (Identity Decisioning)

For our client, we are seeking a Software Engineer II, Backend (Identity Decisioning) to join the team of a leader in the Finance & Insurance space.

This role will focus on building and supporting backend systems that power secure, reliable decisioning capabilities within a fast-moving technology environment. You will partner closely with technical and product stakeholders to break down complex work, deliver incremental solutions, and help ensure operational stability. The position also offers the opportunity to contribute to team growth while working in a collaborative, cross-functional setting.

Location: Remote - US based candidates only, no visa sponsorship available

Compensation: $133,000 – $183,000 annually

Responsibilities

• Collaborate with technical leads to decompose projects into actionable tasks
• Partner with product management and design teams throughout the product development lifecycle
• Monitor and escalate operational issues to maintain system availability
• Participate in team growth activities, including interviewing new candidates
• Deliver project phases on time through effective collaboration with stakeholders

Qualifications

• 1.5+ years of experience as a software engineer
• Experience designing, developing, and launching backend systems
• Proficiency in Python or Kotlin
• Familiarity with distributed systems, AWS, MySQL, and Kubernetes
• Ability to transform simple problems into multi-component software solutions with well-tested code
• Comfortable navigating and debugging large codebases and providing feedback via code reviews
• Proactive in seeking feedback for personal growth and development
• Strong verbal and written communication skills
