Job Title: Software Engineer II (Machine Learning Systems)

Location: Remote (PST Preferred)

Duration: 6 Months Contract (Potential Extension)

We are seeking a Software Engineer II with experience supporting Machine Learning (ML) systems and production software environments. This role will focus on maintaining and improving ML classification models, monitoring data quality, investigating performance regressions, and implementing safeguards that improve the reliability and integrity of ML pipelines.

The ideal candidate combines strong software engineering fundamentals with exposure to machine learning systems, data quality analysis, and operational excellence practices.

Responsibilities

• Develop, enhance, and maintain production-quality software solutions.
• Support and improve machine learning classification models and related systems.
• Monitor data quality and investigate model performance issues and regressions.
• Identify system gaps and implement safeguards to prevent invalid configurations.
• Write clean, maintainable, and well-tested code.
• Participate in code reviews and contribute to engineering best practices.
• Troubleshoot, debug, and resolve software issues.
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams to deliver project objectives.
• Create and maintain technical documentation.
• Support operational excellence through monitoring, incident response, and system improvements.

Required Qualifications

• 3+ years of professional software engineering experience.
• Experience developing, evaluating, or supporting machine learning models, particularly classification models.
• Experience building or supporting ML systems in production environments.
• Proficiency in at least one programming language such as Python, Java, C++, Go, or similar.
• Experience building, testing, and maintaining production-quality software.
• Hands-on experience with software development best practices including version control, code reviews, and CI/CD processes.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, or a related field, or equivalent practical experience.

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience working at large-scale technology companies.
• Experience with machine learning operations, model monitoring, and data quality systems.
• Experience supporting high-availability production environments.
