Job Description: Software Development Engineer in Test (SDET)

Location: Bournemouth or London, UK

Work Model: 5 days onsite

Role Overview

We are looking for experienced Software Development Engineers in Test (SDETs ) with strong software engineering and automation development capabilities. The ideal candidates will be able to design, develop, and implement automated testing frameworks and scripts using Java, Playwright, TypeScript/JavaScript, SQL, and React.

This role is focused on engineering-led test automation rather than manual testing. Candidates should have strong coding, debugging, and problem-solving skills, with the ability to build reliable automated testing solutions and integrate them into CI/CD pipelines.

Key Responsibilities

• Design, develop, and maintain automated testing frameworks and scripts.
• Build automated tests using Playwright with TypeScript/JavaScript and React-based applications.
• Develop and maintain automation solutions using Java and Maven.
• Perform REST and GraphQL API testing.
• Write and execute SQL queries to validate data and test application functionality.
• Debug automation scripts, investigate failures, and identify root causes of defects.
• Integrate automated tests into CI/CD pipelines using Jenkins or Jules.
• Perform performance and load testing using Apache JMeter.
• Work with Kubernetes-based environments to support testing activities.
• Apply AI-related knowledge and relevant certification to support modern testing and automation practices.
• Use payments domain knowledge to understand and validate payment-related application workflows.
• Collaborate with software engineers and delivery teams to improve application quality and automation coverage.

Required Skills and Experience

• Strong software engineering and test automation development experience.
• Hands-on experience with Playwright and TypeScript/JavaScript.
• Experience testing React-based applications.
• Programming experience in Java and familiarity with Maven.
• Experience with REST and GraphQL API testing.
• SQL knowledge for database validation and data testing.
• Experience with debugging, troubleshooting, and root-cause analysis.
• Familiarity with Jenkins/Jules and CI/CD pipelines.
• Experience with Apache JMeter and Kubernetes.
• Payments domain knowledge.
• AI certification.
