Trusted by more than 700 organizations worldwide, Camunda helps businesses improve operational efficiency and deliver better customer experiences.
About the Role
Camunda is seeking a Software Engineer to join its Self-Managed Experience (SMX) team. This team develops the installation tools and infrastructure resources that allow customers to deploy and operate Camunda 8 in their own environments.
The role primarily focuses on building, maintaining, and releasing installation artifacts, including Kubernetes Helm charts, Docker Compose configurations, and C8Run. You will also contribute to deployment automation, infrastructure testing, CI/CD improvements, documentation, and the overall customer deployment experience.
Key Responsibilities
- Build, maintain, document, and release Camunda 8 distribution artifacts for self-managed customers, including Helm charts, C8Run, and Docker Compose.
- Improve deployment reliability and usability throughout the customer lifecycle, including installation, upgrades, and ongoing operations.
- Collaborate with Support, Consulting, and Presales teams to understand customer deployment challenges and help prioritize engineering improvements.
- Work with development, product management, quality assurance, and documentation teams to deliver integrated, tested, and documented releases.
- Participate in the team's shared support rotation, resolve engineering-level support cases, and incorporate lessons learned into product development.
- Contribute to shared tooling for code reviews, deployments, and testing that can be adopted by other engineering teams.
- Improve onboarding materials and technical documentation based on practical experience and customer needs.
- Develop and maintain CI/CD pipelines, test automation, and release processes to strengthen software quality.
- Contribute to improvements in deployment automation, multi-region configurations, developer experience, and infrastructure reliability.
- Build familiarity with cloud reference architectures and collaborate with engineers working across infrastructure stacks.
Required Qualifications
- Strong experience building, operating, and maintaining Helm charts.
- Experience deploying and managing applications on Kubernetes.
- Experience implementing CI/CD pipelines using GitHub Actions.
- Experience with infrastructure as code, such as Terraform.
- Ability to write clear technical documentation and communicate effectively across teams.
- A practical, independent approach to programming, troubleshooting, and problem-solving.
- Ownership of software throughout its development, deployment, and operational lifecycle.
- Genuine curiosity about customer problems and the ability to evaluate both what should be built and how to build it.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience running and operating self-hosted or on-premises software using Docker.
- Familiarity with observability tools such as Prometheus, Grafana, or OpenTelemetry.
- Working knowledge of the Go programming language.
- Exposure to cloud infrastructure and infrastructure-as-code tools such as Terraform or Crossplane.
- Interest in improving deployment processes, testing practices, and the operational experience of self-managed software.
Salary & Benefits
The advertised U.S. salary range is $119,900–$193,200 per year. Compensation varies by location and may depend on experience and qualifications. Equity may also be available through the company's Virtual Stock Option Plan (VSOP).
