Software Engineer, Marketing Recommendations

For our client, we are seeking a Software Engineer, Marketing Recommendations to join the team of a leader in the Media space.

This role will help shape recommendation experiences by collaborating closely with data scientists and engineers to improve how audiences are matched with relevant content. You will contribute to the design, development, and support of scalable systems that power real-time decisioning and cloud-based infrastructure. The position calls for strong engineering discipline, with an emphasis on performance, reliability, and delivering clean, testable code in a fast-moving environment.

Location: Remote - US based candidates only, no visa sponsorship available

Compensation: $110,000 – $130,000 annually

Responsibilities

• Collaborate with data scientists and engineers to improve recommendation systems
• Write clean, efficient, and testable code
• Contribute to all phases of the application development lifecycle
• Build and support cloud infrastructure
• Maintain and evolve real-time processing systems
• Identify and propose solutions for bottlenecks and bugs
• Ensure system health through automated testing and monitoring

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree or higher in Computer Science or a related field
• 5+ years of experience developing software using Java, Python, or a similar language
• Strong knowledge of Python for mid-level engineers
• Experience with highly available, reliable distributed systems
• Familiarity with AWS technologies, including EC2, S3, Elastic Beanstalk, and AWS Lambda
• Experience with containerized applications
• Knowledge of Kafka and Kafka Streams, with data engineering skills such as ETL
