Software Engineer Principal (Remote)

For our client, we are seeking a Software Engineer Principal (Remote) to join the team of a leader in the Retail & Consumer Goods space.

This role will help shape secure, scalable software solutions across modern cloud-based systems, with a strong emphasis on architecture, reliability, and performance.

You will partner closely with UX, engineering, and product teams to improve the user experience while driving technical standards and production stability.

The position also involves automation, documentation, and data-driven engineering practices that support long-term platform health and continuous improvement.

Location: Remote - US based candidates only, no visa sponsorship available

Compensation: $140,000 – $240,000 annually

Responsibilities

• Collaborate with UX, engineering, and product management to deliver secure software solutions
• Write custom code to automate infrastructure and monitoring services
• Create architectural diagrams and detailed product documentation
• Identify and implement product enhancements to improve user experience
• Define Service Level Objectives to measure production reliability

Qualifications

• 6-8 years of relevant work experience
• Mastery of a modern programming language, preferably Java
• Proficiency in modern microservice-based architectures and methodologies
• Data engineering experience at scale
• Proficiency in both SQL and NoSQL databases
• Experience with destructive testing methodologies and tools
