Manager, Software Development

Job Summary

The Manager, Software Development leads a cross-functional software engineering team responsible for designing, developing, testing, deploying, and supporting software solutions that support the Group's products and services.

This role combines people leadership, delivery management, and technical oversight. The successful candidate will build and develop high-performing teams, drive predictable delivery, foster engineering excellence, and support the ongoing modernization of a mature enterprise software platform.

The role works closely with Product Management, Architecture, Quality Assurance, and business stakeholders across multiple global locations.

Key Responsibilities

Leadership & Delivery

• Lead, coach, and develop software engineering and quality engineering team members.
• Build a high-performing, collaborative, and accountable engineering culture.
• Manage team performance, career development, recruitment, and retention.
• Deliver product and platform roadmaps in partnership with Product Management.
• Manage priorities, dependencies, delivery risks, and resource planning.
• Drive Agile delivery practices and continuous improvement initiatives.

Technical & Operational Leadership

• Provide technical oversight across application development, databases, APIs, testing, cloud-hosted environments, and deployment processes.
• Promote engineering best practices including code reviews, automated testing, CI/CD, and secure software development.
• Support modernization initiatives through API-first, cloud-based, and automation-focused approaches.
• Ensure teams own the full software delivery lifecycle, including development, deployment, support, and operational stability.

AI, Automation & Continuous Improvement

• Drive adoption of AI-assisted engineering practices to improve productivity, software quality, and delivery effectiveness.
• Encourage the use of AI tools for development, testing, documentation, troubleshooting, and knowledge sharing.
• Identify opportunities to improve team efficiency through automation and modern engineering practices.

Global Collaboration

• Collaborate effectively with engineering, product, and business teams across North America, the United Kingdom, and Europe.
• Build strong working relationships with stakeholders across multiple time zones, including Eastern Europe.
• Communicate effectively with both technical and non-technical audiences.

Required Qualifications & Experience

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, Information Technology, or a related field, or equivalent experience.
• Proven experience managing software engineering teams.
• Experience delivering enterprise software solutions within Agile environments.
• Strong understanding of software development lifecycle practices and engineering best practices.
• Experience working with distributed teams across multiple regions.
• Strong leadership, communication, and stakeholder management skills.

• Strong written communication skills, including technical and business documentation.
• Willingness to work with globally distributed teams across North American, UK, and European time zones.
