Software Engineering Manager (Compute Test, North Reading, MA)

Opportunity Overview Teradyne is seeking a Technical Software Engineering Manager I to lead a small team of software engineers within the Compute Software Solutions organization located in Agoura Hills, California. This leader will be responsible for managing approximately 4-5 engineers while remaining closely engaged in technical execution, software architecture discussions, project planning, and cross-functional collaboration.

The successful candidate will provide day-to-day leadership for software development activities supporting compute and automation solutions. This role requires balancing people leadership, technical guidance, and operational execution to deliver high-quality software solutions that meet business objectives and customer needs.

Key Responsibilities

• Lead, mentor, and develop a team of 4-5 software engineers.
• Manage software development schedules, priorities, and resource planning.
• Guide technical design discussions and software architecture decisions.
• Support development of scalable, maintainable, and reliable software solutions.
• Establish team objectives and ensure successful execution of project deliverables.
• Collaborate with product, systems, hardware, quality, and program management teams.
• Conduct performance and development discussions while fostering employee growth.
• Drive continuous improvement in engineering practices, development processes, and quality standards.
• Monitor project risks and implement mitigation strategies.
• Ensure software solutions align with organizational goals, customer requirements, and industry best practices.
• Contribute to workforce planning, hiring activities, and onboarding of new team members.
• Support business planning activities and execution of organizational priorities.

Required Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, Computer Engineering, or related technical field.
• 7+ years of software development experience.
• Prior technical leadership experience leading projects or small engineering teams.
• Strong software engineering fundamentals and experience delivering commercial or enterprise software products.
• Experience with object-oriented programming and modern software development methodologies.
• Strong knowledge of software architecture, code quality practices, testing methodologies, and source control systems.
• Excellent problem-solving, communication, and collaboration skills.
• Demonstrated ability to manage competing priorities and drive execution through others.

Preferred Qualifications

• Previous people management or formal supervisory experience.
• Experience in automation, test systems, compute solutions, or related engineering environments.
• Experience with Agile development methodologies.
• Experience leading cross-functional development initiatives.

Compensation The base salary range for this role is $165,700-$265,200. This range is a good faith estimate, and the amount of base salary will correspond with experience and skill set. This range can also fluctuate depending on demand and location.

Incentive Plan: This job is eligible for discretionary bonus(es) based on financial performance.
