Software Engineering Manager | $190k+

Take ownership of a production technology platform supporting energy trading and renewable assets. This hands-on role combines Python development, data engineering, platform architecture, and collaboration with trading and analytics teams. You'll improve an established system while helping shape its future development.

Responsibilities

• Own the daily operation, reliability, and continued development of an internally built energy management and trading platform.
• Design, develop, and maintain Python applications, data pipelines, APIs, and analytical components.
• Support trade capture, position management, valuation, settlements, and trading analytics.
• Maintain and enhance core Python libraries, data models, and integrations supporting front-office applications.
• Establish effective development practices covering source control, testing, code reviews, and production deployments.
• Partner directly with traders, quantitative analysts, developers, and IT teams to translate operational needs into technical solutions.
• Strengthen platform security, access controls, change management, and production support procedures.
• Provide technical guidance to a systems developer while remaining actively involved in engineering and troubleshooting.

Qualifications

• Strong hands-on Python development experience, including data engineering, APIs, data modeling, and production applications.
• Demonstrated experience owning, supporting, and improving business-critical software platforms.
• Practical understanding of software engineering standards, version control, testing, and production troubleshooting.
• Experience with technologies such as pandas, Polars, FastAPI, AWS, Docker, Kubernetes, or comparable platforms.
• Exposure to energy, utilities, power trading, oil and gas, financial trading, or other data-intensive commercial environments.
• Ability to work directly with business users, contribute to technical decisions, and provide guidance within a collaborative engineering team.
