Software Engineering Team Lead

Russian-Speaking Engineering Team Lead | Quantitative Trading | Fully Remote

I’m working with a highly profitable proprietary trading firm that is continuing to scale its organisation (200+ employees) as it expands across traditional financial and crypto markets.

They’re looking for an Engineering Team Lead to take responsibility for an established team of five Rust engineers building core systems within the trading platform.

Neither Rust nor quantitative trading experience is required.

The role

You’ll be responsible for the overall effectiveness of the team, including:

• Hiring and performance management
• Coaching and developing engineers
• Setting priorities and improving delivery
• Working directly with trading and business stakeholders
• Making pragmatic trade-offs between speed, quality, technical debt and commercial impact

What they’re looking for

• Minimum 3+ years leading software engineering teams
• A strong backend engineering background
• Experience within a startup, scale-up or similarly entrepreneurial environments
• Genuine ownership of hiring, performance and team development
• Strong stakeholder management and commercial judgement
• Fluency in Russian

Why it’s interesting

• Fully remote internationally
• P&L Ownership
• Highly technical, engineering-led environment
• Significant investment in AI-assisted development
• Growing across new markets, strategies and asset classes
