- Develop software and unit tests using C++ and object-oriented programming principles for reliable and maintainable instrument control.
- Collaborate closely with other software engineers, as well as firmware, hardware, and applications engineers, throughout the design, development, integration, testing, and support of ATE instrument software.
- Participate in requirements discussions, technical design reviews, code reviews, and software release activities.
- Troubleshoot and resolve complex issues involving software behavior, firmware interactions, hardware interfaces, instrument behavior, and system integration.
- Diagnose and debug instrument control issues using software debugging techniques, hardware information, and laboratory or measurement equipment as appropriate.
- Participate in the development and integration of new instrument capabilities, as well as enhancements and sustaining activities for existing products.
- Support production releases and address issues associated with fielded products, including software defects, product maintenance, and obsolescence.
- Contribute to software quality with an emphasis on reliability, diagnosability, performance, and long-term maintainability.
- Identify opportunities to improve development processes, software tools, testing practices, and engineering practices.
