Project Software Lead (Automotive)

We are supporting a leading automotive organisation in Gothenburg that is looking for a Project Software Lead to drive software delivery, issue resolution and cross-functional coordination across vehicle development programmes.

This is not a hands-on software development role. Instead, the successful consultant will act as the focal point for software-related topics, ensuring issues are tracked, communicated and resolved while maintaining alignment across multiple stakeholders and development teams.

This role would suit professionals who have experience operating in the space between software development teams, project delivery and stakeholder management. Suitable candidates may currently be working as a Regional Issue Manager, Software Project Manager, Technical Project Lead, Systems Engineer, Software Delivery Lead, Integration Lead, Release Manager or Technical Program Manager.

Contract: Initial 6-month contract with extension potential

Responsibilities of the Project Software Lead

• Lead software-related discussions across engineering and business stakeholders
• Drive software issues, risks and blockers through to resolution
• Coordinate activities between development, integration, validation and project teams
• Track actions, dependencies and delivery status across multiple functions
• Lead meetings and provide regular updates on software maturity and programme status
• Support software release readiness and delivery planning
• Escalate critical issues and ensure effective follow-up of actions

Required Experience of the Project Software Lead

• Automotive industry experience
• Background in software delivery, systems engineering, technical project management or issue management
• Experience coordinating cross-functional teams and technical stakeholders
• Strong understanding of software development lifecycles
• Experience working with Jira and structured issue-tracking processes
• Excellent communication, organisation and stakeholder management skills
• Ability to manage multiple workstreams and priorities simultaneously
• Knowledge of automotive software development processes
• Experience working with global teams
