Software QA Engineer

Job Summary:

We are looking for a detail-oriented Quality Assurance Engineer to ensure the quality, reliability, and performance of our applications and data systems. This role involves both manual and automated testing, test documentation, and data validation, with close collaboration across engineering and business teams.

This role follows a hybrid work model with 4 days remote and mandatory Friday in-office presence, including evening shift work on select days.

Job Specification:

As a Quality Assurance Engineer, you will:

• Thoroughly test individual feature updates, bug fixes, and user stories delivered by the development team prior to release.
• Perform automated testing across applications
• Author, review, and maintain comprehensive, clear test cases based on ticket requirements and user stories.
• Perform feature level manual testing to verify functionality and requirements
• Execute functional, black box, white box, ad-hoc, exploratory, and smoke testing
• Plan and execute full manual regression test suites prior to every scheduled release to prevent software regressions and maintain platform stability.
• Collaborate with developers, product managers, and end users to understand feature requirements, reproduce issues, and validate solutions
• Conduct UI-based testing including click-through and workflow validation
• Execute data quality testing for reports and datasets
• Write and execute SQL queries to verify data accuracy, database changes, and backend consistency.
• Support performance testing initiatives (preferred skill)
• Use TestMo for test management and reporting
• Maintain and update bug reports, test status, and ticket progression using Shortcut (or similar agile project management tools).
• Actively liaise with developers, product owners, and stakeholders to clarify ambiguous requirements, edge cases, or comments within project tickets.

Required Skills and Expertise:

Education

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field

Experience

• 3+ years of experience in software quality assurance or testing roles

Technical Skills

• Strong experience in manual and automated testing
• Expertise in test case and test plan authoring
• Familiarity with the SDLC and the STLC
• Experience with data QA, including validation of reports and datasets
• Strong SQL skills for data verification
• Hands-on experience with UI testing and user-flow validation
• Familiarity with TestMo or similar test management tools
• Exposure to performance testing tools and methodologies (preferred)

Client & Stakeholder Communication

• Excellent client-facing communication skills
• Exposure to CI/CD-integrated testing workflows

Nice to Have:

• Experience working on legacy modernization projects
• Exposure to performance optimization and backend scalability
• Experience with data engineering or data pipelines
• Experience with automated test tools such as Selenium, TestCafe or similar is a plus

Soft Skills:

• Strong attention to detail and analytical thinking
• Clear communication and documentation skills
• Ownership of quality and defect prevention
• Ability to work independently during remote shifts

• Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday: 3:45 PM – 12:45 AM
