Software QA Engineer

About the role

As a QA Engineer, you will work with the Product and Engineering teams to improve the quality and reliability of Zed software. You will own day-to-day software testing, improve regression coverage, maintain the bug backlog and help introduce automated testing.

Key responsibilities

• Execute functional, regression, integration, load, API and end-to-end tests across web applications and backend services
• Test changes independently during sprints and support release readiness decisions
• Record clear test results and escalate risks in a timely manner
• Review and refresh existing regression suites and improve test coverage
• Create repeatable test cases with clear steps and expected outcomes
• Apply risk-based testing to improve coverage and shorten regression cycles
• Evaluate suitable automation tools and prioritise high-value test scenarios
• Develop and maintain automated tests for repetitive and critical workflows
• Work with Engineering to integrate automated checks into CI/CD pipelines
• Keep defects accurately logged, categorised, reproducible and up to date

About you

• Strong understanding of functional, regression, load, integration, API and end-to-end testing
• Experience preparing and maintaining test cases and regression test suites
• Experience with test automation tools such as Playwright, Cypress, Selenium or equivalent
• Technical capability in API and backend testing, including REST APIs, JSON, HTTP and SQL
• Familiarity with CI/CD pipelines and Azure DevOps or equivalent
• Sound defect management, investigation and triage skills
• Strong communication, documentation and problem-solving skills
• Commercial software testing or QA experience in an Agile development team
• Experience improving testing practices and managing software defects
• Experience testing backend services and integrations

Desirable Skills & Qualifications

• Experience in medical imaging, healthcare IT or other regulated software environments
• Familiarity with IEC 62304 and ISO 27001
• Understanding of DICOM, HL7, FHIR or PACS/RIS workflows
