What they need
Wespine Industries Pty Ltd is the leading plantation softwood sawmilling company with its operations based 15 minutes from Bunbury in Dardanup West. Wespine is a market leader in the provision of softwood timber to the national building and packaging industries with a strong culture of continuous improvement and investment into its manufacturing operation and management support systems.
Our people are integral to Wespine’s success, and we believe in investing in our employees by offering career pathways, learning opportunities and a culture based on safety and growth. We encourage applicants from diverse backgrounds to apply.
We are seeking a Software Solutions Engineer to join our Business Technology Team. Reporting to the Software Development Coordinator, you will maintain and support Wespine’s in-house business applications, system integrations, and Power BI reporting solutions.
This is offered on a Full-Time agreement, working Monday to Friday.
About the Role
As a Software Solutions Engineer, you'll work across software, data, reporting and business systems to solve real operational problems across Wespine.
This is a hands-on role where you'll work directly with the business, understand the problem and take ownership of delivering the right technical solution through to production.
Your responsibilities will include:
- Developing and improving in house applications using C# and .NET
- Building Power BI reports, data models and reporting solutions
- Working extensively with SQL Server and T-SQL
- Developing and supporting integrations between applications, APIs and core business systems
- Working directly with Operations, Commercial and Finance to understand and solve business problems
- Investigating issues across applications, integrations, processes and data
- Using modern development practices and AI-assisted development tools to improve delivery
- Contributing to the ongoing modernisation of Wespine's applications and technology environment
About You
We're looking for someone who enjoys solving problems, learning how a business works and taking ownership of solutions rather than simply completing development tasks.
You don't need to know every technology we use from day one. We're looking for strong technical capability, initiative and someone who is comfortable learning and working across different systems.
To be successful in this role, you'll have:
- Commercial experience developing software, data or reporting solutions
- Strong SQL Server and T-SQL capability
- Experience with C#/.NET development or Power BI development, with an interest in developing capability across both
- Strong problem solving and analytical skills
- The ability to understand a business problem and translate it into a practical technical solution
- The ability to work autonomously while knowing when to collaborate or escalate
- An understanding of source control, testing and software release practices
- Strong communication skills and the confidence to work directly with business stakeholders
The following will be highly regarded:
- Experience with ERP or enterprise business systems, particularly SYSPRO
- Experience with DevExpress XAF, XPO ORM or similar frameworks
- Experience with APIs and system integration
- Experience using AI-assisted development tools
- Experience in manufacturing, industrial or other operational environments
- A relevant qualification in Computer Science, Software Engineering, Information Systems or a related discipline
What we offer
- Supportive team in a great working environment
- Competitive remuneration + superannuation
- Eligibility in KPI-based incentive scheme
- Company uniform
- Opportunity to work on meaningful business systems that directly support manufacturing operations
- Potential for contract extension based on business requirements
