About the Role

We are looking for an experienced Software System Designer to turn business and stakeholder requirements into clear, detailed system designs that development teams can build with confidence. You will be the link between business analysts, stakeholders and developers, and will provide technical guidance to ensure solutions align with our architectural roadmap.

Key Responsibilities

• Develop and document solution designs across multiple technologies and products
• Translate macro designs and requirements into detailed, build-ready specifications
• Create use cases and sequence diagrams, and define data requirements
• Ensure designs comply with standards, legislation, governance and the architectural target state
• Evaluate design options, identify risks and dependencies, and recommend mitigations
• Conduct impact analysis for proposed design changes
• Provide input into system test plans and develop integration test packs
• Support developers with troubleshooting and technical queries
• Mentor junior developers and designers
• Maintain technical documentation and lessons learned in the knowledge base
• Propose process and system improvements using agile thinking

Requirements

• Matric / Grade 12 / National Senior Certificate
• Minimum 5 years’ IT experience
• Knowledge of IT architecture and IT infrastructure architecture
• IT / Banking domain knowledge
• Strong grounding in systems design and requirements analysis
• Strong decision making, quality orientation, stakeholder management and emotional intelligence

Preferred:

• Diploma or certificate in a relevant IT field
• Certification in a solution design methodology
• Experience with UML, use case modelling and agile environments
