Software Tester

Overview

We are looking for a self-driven and experienced ISTQB-certified Software Tester to join our growing Engineering team.

The ideal candidate will be detail-oriented, have a strong analytical mind, and be comfortable working independently while collaborating closely with developers, product managers and other members of the Engineering team.

This is a hands-on manual testing role, with opportunities to contribute to automation, API, performance and security testing as your experience and interests allow.

Chime is workforce and site management software covering site access, time and attendance, forms, equipment and inspections, quality, skills and reporting.

Our customers need to know exactly who is on site and what they are qualified to do.

It is a product with real consequences. If a shift does not record correctly, someone's pay is wrong. Testing here is not box-ticking, it is about making sure the product works reliably for the people who depend on it.

Responsibilities

• Analyse test requirements and independently design and build test cases and test scripts, mapping them back to requirements.
• Interpret and execute complex test scripts using agreed methods and standards, accurately recording and reporting outcomes.
• Plan and carry out functional, component, integration, system, regression and UX testing.
• Perform exploratory testing to identify unexpected behaviours, edge cases and potential product risks.
• Analyse test activities and communicate results clearly and concisely.
• Record detailed information about failing test cases and defects, including clear steps to reproduce, expected behaviour and actual results.
• Work closely with the Engineering and Product teams to investigate and communicate issues.
• Perform test gap analysis and identify scenarios that require additional manual testing and/or automation.
• Contribute to improving testing processes, coverage and quality across the product.
• Help ensure testing is aligned with requirements and provides appropriate coverage of key user journeys and risks.

Skills & Experience
Required

• Experience in a software testing or QA role.
• Experience with functional, component, integration, system, regression and UX testing in a web or mobile environment.
• Strong experience creating and executing test cases and test scripts.
• Excellent critical thinking, problem-solving and attention to detail.
• Strong ability to investigate issues and identify potential causes and edge cases.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to clearly communicate technical information to both technical and non-technical audiences.
• Ability to work independently, manage testing activities and use initiative.
• ISTQB certification.

Desirable but not essential

• Experience with test automation.
• Experience with API testing and tools such as Postman.
• Experience with performance or security testing.
• Familiarity with tools such as Jira, Azure DevOps, TestRail or similar test/defect management platforms.
• Experience working within an Agile/Scrum development environment.
• Familiarity with browser developer tools, SQL or other technical tools used to investigate defects.
• Experience testing both web and mobile applications.
• Familiarity with the construction or workforce management industry.

Job Types: Full-time, Permanent

Pay: Up to £40,000.00 per year
