Software Tester / Developer

Blunomy is looking for a Software Tester / Developer (Python & Test Automation) to join our growing Digital & Data team and help strengthen the quality, reliability and maintainability of our Python-based forecasting platform and client-facing React applications. The role can either be Melbourne or Sydney based but you must be able to work from our CBD office locations on a weekly basis.

This is a hybrid development and software-quality role , combining hands-on Python development with structured testing and test automation. You’ll work closely with Developers and Data Scientists to identify issues early, improve test coverage and build reliable software that can be confidently used in production.

What you’ll do

• Design and execute unit, integration and regression testing.
• Test React-based interfaces and dashboards, including functional and user-interface testing.
• Investigate, reproduce and clearly document software defects.
• Build and maintain automated test suites using Python testing frameworks such as pytest .
• Develop automated UI and end-to-end testing using tools such as Cypress or Playwright .
• Integrate automated testing into CI/CD pipelines and help improve test coverage and reliability.
• Contribute directly to the software codebase through bug fixes, smaller features and refactoring.
• Write clean, maintainable Python code and participate in code reviews and Git-based development workflows.
• Work collaboratively with Developers and Data Scientists to continuously improve software quality.

What we’re looking for

You’ll ideally have a degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering or a related discipline and around 1–3 years' experience in software development and/or software testing/quality assurance .

You’ll bring solid Python skills, an understanding of Git and CI/CD practices, and some exposure to frontend or UI testing. Experience with pytest, Cypress, Playwright or similar tools is valuable, although we’re also interested in people who have the technical foundation and motivation to develop further capability in test automation. Most importantly, you’ll be methodical, curious and detail-focused , enjoy finding out why software behaves the way it does, and be comfortable switching between testing, problem-solving and writing code .

Employment: Full-time, permanent

Working model: Hybrid – 3 days office / 2 days working from home
