Job Summary

We are looking for an experienced Senior Software Test Engineer / QA Automation Engineer with 6+ years of experience in testing web-based applications. The ideal candidate will have strong expertise in test automation, API testing, functional testing, database validation, CI/CD, and quality engineering practices.

The candidate will work closely with Developers, Product Managers, Business Analysts, and DevOps teams to ensure the delivery of high-quality, scalable, secure, and reliable web applications.

Key Responsibilities

• Design, develop, and execute comprehensive test strategies, test plans, test cases, and test scenarios for web applications.
• Perform functional, regression, integration, system, exploratory, smoke, sanity, and end-to-end testing.
• Develop and maintain robust UI automation frameworks using tools such as Selenium, Playwright, or Cypress.
• Automate test scenarios using Java, Python, JavaScript/TypeScript, or similar programming languages.
• Perform comprehensive REST API testing using tools such as Postman, REST Assured, or equivalent frameworks.
• Validate backend data using SQL queries and perform database testing.
• Integrate automated tests with CI/CD pipelines using tools such as Jenkins, GitHub Actions, GitLab CI, or Azure DevOps.
• Identify, analyze, document, and track defects using tools such as Jira, Azure DevOps, or similar platforms.
• Perform root-cause analysis and collaborate with development teams to resolve complex defects.
• Participate in Agile/Scrum ceremonies, including sprint planning, daily stand-ups, reviews, and retrospectives.
• Contribute to test automation strategy, framework design, reusable test components, and automation best practices.
• Execute cross-browser and responsive testing across modern browsers and devices.
• Validate application performance and identify potential performance bottlenecks using tools such as JMeter, Gatling, or equivalent.
• Work with DevOps/cloud teams to incorporate automated testing into modern deployment pipelines.
• Ensure adequate test coverage across application features, APIs, integrations, and critical business workflows.
• Mentor junior QA engineers and contribute to improving overall QA processes and engineering standards.
• Continuously identify opportunities to improve test efficiency, automation coverage, release quality, and defect prevention.

Required Technical SkillsWeb Application Testing

• Strong hands-on experience in web application testing.
• Excellent understanding of SDLC, STLC, QA methodologies, and defect life cycle.
• Strong experience in functional, regression, integration, system, smoke, sanity, and end-to-end testing.
• Good understanding of browser compatibility, responsive web testing, and web application architecture.

Test Automation

Strong hands-on experience with one or more:

• Selenium WebDriver
• Playwright
• Cypress
• Automation framework development and maintenance
• Page Object Model / reusable automation architecture
• Data-driven and parameterized testing
• Parallel test execution

Programming

Strong programming/scripting skills in at least one:

• Java
• Python
• JavaScript / TypeScript

Good understanding of OOP concepts, collections, exception handling, debugging, and writing maintainable automation code.

API Testing

• Strong experience with REST API testing.
• Hands-on experience with Postman, REST Assured, or equivalent tools.
• Understanding of HTTP methods, status codes, headers, authentication, JSON/XML, and API validations.
• Ability to automate API test suites.

Database Testing

• Strong SQL skills.
• Experience validating data across relational databases.
• Knowledge of joins, subqueries, aggregations, stored procedures, and data validation.

CI/CD & Version Control

• Experience integrating automated tests into CI/CD pipelines.
• Hands-on experience with Jenkins, GitHub Actions, GitLab CI, or Azure DevOps.
• Strong understanding of Git and source-control practices.

Preferred / Good-to-Have Skills

• Experience with AWS, Azure, or GCP.
• Exposure to Docker and Kubernetes.
• Experience with performance testing using JMeter, Gatling, or similar tools.
• Knowledge of security testing fundamentals, including OWASP concepts.
• Experience testing applications deployed in cloud environments.
• Exposure to AI-assisted testing / AI-powered QA tools.
• Experience with test reporting and quality metrics.
• Knowledge of microservices and distributed application architectures.
• Experience with accessibility testing and tools such as axe or equivalent.

Required Experience

• 6+ years of overall software testing / QA experience.
• Strong hands-on experience testing web applications.
• At least 3+ years of practical automation testing experience preferred.
• Experience working in Agile/Scrum environments.
• Demonstrated experience owning testing activities for features/modules from requirement analysis through production release.
• Strong analytical, troubleshooting, communication, and problem-solving skills.
