Café Manager

Salary: $75,000–$80,000 annually, depending on experience
Schedule: Full-time; weekend and holiday availability required

SŌHN is seeking an experienced, hands-on Café Manager to lead our front-of-house operations and support the continued growth of our high-volume Korean American café and gathering space in San Francisco’s Dogpatch neighborhood.

The Café Manager will oversee daily service, lead and develop our front-of-house team, and ensure that every guest receives a warm, organized, and thoughtful experience. This role is ideal for someone who thrives in a fast-paced environment, leads calmly from the floor, and genuinely enjoys building strong teams and systems.

Responsibilities

• Oversee daily café operations and maintain a consistently high standard of service
• Lead the front-of-house team during busy services, remaining present and engaged on the floor
• Recruit, train, schedule, coach, and support front-of-house employees
• Manage labor thoughtfully while maintaining appropriate staffing levels
• Monitor service flow, guest wait times, seating, cleanliness, and overall café organization
• Respond to guest feedback and resolve concerns with professionalism and care
• Maintain and improve service standards, training materials, and operating procedures
• Coordinate closely with the culinary, beverage, events, and leadership teams
• Oversee opening and closing procedures, cash handling, and daily reporting
• Manage inventory and ordering of front-of-house supplies
• Ensure compliance with health, safety, and workplace standards
• Help create a positive, respectful, and accountable team culture
• Support pop-ups and special programming as needed

Qualifications

• At least 3 years of hospitality or food-and-beverage experience, including 1–2 years in a management or supervisory role
• Experience working in a high-volume café, restaurant, or similarly fast-paced hospitality environment
• Strong leadership, communication, and conflict-resolution skills
• Highly organized, reliable, and comfortable managing multiple priorities at once
• Confident making decisions and solving problems in real time
• Experience with scheduling, labor management, training, and daily financial reporting
• A genuine commitment to hospitality and creating a welcoming experience for both guests and team members
• Ability to remain calm, professional, and solutions-oriented during high-volume service
• Availability to work weekends, holidays, and occasional evening events
• Valid California ServSafe Food Handlers Manager Certification, or willingness to obtain one
