Sustain Homes Limited is looking for an experienced Solar Technical Manager to oversee technical surveys and installation quality across Sussex and the South of England.

This is a hands-on, field-based role for someone with strong solar PV knowledge who takes pride in delivering safe, high-quality installations. You will assess properties, support our installers and ensure solar roofing, electrical and scaffolding works meet our standards.

The role

• Complete technical surveys for solar PV and battery storage installations, assessing roof suitability, electrical infrastructure, equipment locations and cable routes.
• Produce clear survey reports, photographs and installation instructions, identifying technical challenges before work begins.
• Manage field resources from a technical and quality perspective, ensuring installers have the information and support needed to complete their work.
• Carry out site inspections of solar roof installations, electrical works and scaffolding, completing detailed quality inspection reports.
• Identify defects, agree corrective actions and follow remedial works through to completion.
• Provide practical technical guidance to electricians, roofing teams and subcontractors.
• Work closely with our office and operations teams to resolve site issues and keep installations progressing.
• Monitor installer performance, identify training needs and help improve installation standards.
• Maintain accurate records of surveys, inspections and corrective actions.
• Promote safe working practices and escalate any immediate safety concerns.

What we’re looking for

• Strong practical experience in solar PV and battery storage installations.
• Experience completing technical surveys, quality inspections or supervising installation teams.
• A sound understanding of solar mounting systems, electrical installation requirements and safe access arrangements.
• Working knowledge of relevant MCS requirements, electrical standards and working-at-height practices.
• The confidence to challenge poor workmanship and support installers in putting it right.
• Excellent attention to detail and the ability to produce clear, accurate reports.
• Strong communication, organisation and problem-solving skills.
• Confidence using digital reporting systems and mobile applications.
• A full UK driving licence and willingness to travel throughout the region.

An electrical qualification and previous experience in a solar technical management or supervisory role would be advantageous. Relevant scaffolding inspection training or qualifications would also be beneficial.

Pay: £45,000.00-£55,000.00 per year
