Solar Project Estimator

About Us

We are a trusted local roofing and solar contractor serving Monterey County. We are looking for a Solar Project Estimator to help homeowners evaluate, design, and understand residential solar and battery systems.

This role is ideal for a technically minded professional who enjoys problem solving, working with homeowners, and being in the field. While prior solar experience is welcome, it is not required. We are willing to train the right candidate from a related construction, technical, or estimating background

What You'll Do

• Meet with homeowners at residential properties throughout Monterey County
• Conduct site assessments and evaluate roof conditions, electrical infrastructure, shading, and site access
• Open and inspect residential electrical panels to gather information needed for system design
• Access rooftops and collect measurements required for system design and installation planning
• Use solar measurement tools to evaluate shading, solar access, and available solar irradiance at each property
• Review utility bills and analyze historical energy consumption
• Use solar design software to design residential solar and battery systems
• Estimate system production, performance, and potential energy savings
• Prepare accurate project estimates and proposals
• Explain system designs, estimated production, project costs, and timelines to homeowners
• Coordinate with office staff, permitting personnel, and production teams to ensure a smooth transition from sale to installation
• Maintain project information using company software and mobile technology

Qualifications

• High school diploma required
• Associate's degree or bachelor's degree preferred, but not required
• Strong communication and customer service skills
• Comfortable using tablets, mobile apps, software platforms, and technology in the field
• Strong math, analytical, and problem-solving skills
• Ability to learn technical concepts and explain them clearly to homeowners
• Organized, detail-oriented, and self-motivated
• Comfortable learning and using specialized software and measurement equipment
• Valid driver's license and acceptable driving record

Field & Safety Requirements

• Comfortable working around active construction sites
• Comfortable climbing ladders, accessing rooftops, and working at heights
• Comfortable opening and inspecting residential electrical panels
• Willing and able to follow company safety policies and applicable safety regulations
• Willing to work outdoors in varying weather conditions
• Comfortable driving throughout Monterey County and to rural or remote project locations
• Reliable transportation (mileage reimbursement provided)

Pay: $55,000.00 - $85,000.00 per year
