Solar PV Business Development Engineer

About the role
Sunergise is seeking a Solar PV Business Development Engineer to join our growing team in Auckland. This is a strategic position that bridges engineering expertise with commercial growth opportunities in the renewable energy sector in New Zealand and throughout the Pacific. You will play a crucial role in identifying, evaluating and developing new business opportunities within the solar PV market, whilst leveraging your electrical engineering knowledge to ensure project viability and customer satisfaction. This role is essential to our mission of expanding our presence in the sustainable energy landscape and driving innovation in solar solutions.

Key responsibilities

• Identify and evaluate new business opportunities in the solar PV market, including potential clients, projects and market segments
• Conduct technical feasibility assessments and preliminary engineering analysis on prospective solar PV projects to determine project viability and profitability
• Develop and prepare detailed technical proposals and quotations for solar PV installations tailored to client requirements
• Liaise between technical teams and clients to ensure clear communication regarding project scope, timelines and specifications
• Collaborate with sales and marketing teams to support business development strategies and customer acquisition initiatives
• Maintain knowledge of industry standards, regulations, and best practices in solar PV technology and installation
• Prepare technical documentation, project specifications and client presentations
• Monitor market trends and competitor activities to identify growth opportunities and inform strategic planning
• Support the development of standardised solutions and service offerings for the business

What we're looking for

• Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering or a related engineering discipline

• 3+ years professional experience

• Experience in solar PV systems, electrical installations or related renewable energy sectors preferred

• Strong technical knowledge of solar PV system design, components and installation methodologies

• Demonstrated ability to develop technical proposals and conduct feasibility studies

• Strong understanding of relevant New Zealand building codes, electrical standards and renewable energy regulations

• Excellent communication skills with the ability to explain complex technical concepts to non-technical stakeholders

• Commercial acumen and business development mindset

• Experience in business development, sales support or customer-facing roles within the engineering sector is an advantage
