Solar Service Technician

RightTrack Home Solutions is growing, and we're looking for an experienced Solar Service Technician to join our expanding service network in the Durham Region.

This is an opportunity for an experienced solar technician or service professional who enjoys troubleshooting, working independently, and providing excellent service to homeowners.

We're looking for someone who takes pride in their work, knows how to diagnose problems properly, and can represent a growing home-services company professionally in the field.

About the Role

As a Solar Service Technician, you will be responsible for servicing and troubleshooting residential solar systems throughout Ajax, Pickering, Whitby, Oshawa, Clarington, Bowmanville, and surrounding areas.

You'll work directly with homeowners to diagnose system issues, perform maintenance and repairs, and help ensure their solar systems continue to operate safely and effectively.

Your responsibilities will include:

• Diagnosing and troubleshooting residential solar PV systems
• Inspecting inverters, monitoring systems, wiring, equipment, and system components
• Performing preventative maintenance and service work
• Troubleshooting system performance and communication issues
• Performing inverter and equipment replacements when required
• Assisting with solar and battery system service
• Identifying issues that require manufacturer or technical support
• Documenting completed service work, findings, photos, and recommendations
• Communicating professionally with homeowners and explaining technical issues clearly
• Identifying additional equipment or upgrade opportunities when appropriate
• Maintaining a clean, safe, and professional work environment
• Completing service assignments efficiently and with a strong focus on first-time resolution

What We're Looking For

We're looking for a technician who is:

• Experienced in residential solar installation, service, or troubleshooting
• Comfortable diagnosing technical issues independently
• Professional and confident when dealing with homeowners
• Reliable, punctual, and organized
• Strong at troubleshooting and problem-solving
• Comfortable working independently in the field
• Detail-oriented with documentation
• Safety-conscious
• Customer-service oriented
• Able to communicate technical information in a simple, professional way

Experience with solar inverters, battery storage, monitoring systems, electrical troubleshooting, and ground-mount systems is an asset.

Requirements

• Relevant solar service or electrical experience
• Own reliable vehicle
• Own professional tools and equipment
• Appropriate trade qualifications and certifications for the work performed
• Ability to obtain and maintain required insurance
• Ability to meet applicable Ontario licensing and regulatory requirements
• Ability to work independently and manage service assignments professionally

Electrical licensing/authorization appropriate to the work performed is required where applicable.

Compensation

$40-$65 per hour, based on experience and qualifications.

Additional earning opportunities are available through service-related opportunities and performance incentives.

Independent Contractor Opportunity

This is an independent contractor position. The successful candidate will operate their own business and be responsible for their own vehicle, tools, insurance, licensing, taxes, and applicable regulatory requirements.

There are no guaranteed hours. Service assignments are offered based on customer demand and technician availability.
